Correct in general, although it technically is not impossible.
Rules of note from the NCAA selection committee principles and procedures:
http://www.ncaa.com/content/di-principles-and-procedures-selection- Teams from the same conference shall not meet prior to the regional final if they played each other three or more times during the regular season and conference tournament.
- Teams from the same conference shall not meet prior to the regional semifinals if they played each other twice during the regular season and conference tournament.
- Teams from the same conference may play each other as early as the second round if they played no more than once during the regular season and conference tournament.
- Any principle can be relaxed if two or more teams from the same conference are among the last four at-large seeded teams participating in the First Four.
- If possible, rematches of non-conference regular-season games should be avoided in the First Four and first round.
- If possible, after examining the previous two years’ brackets, teams or conferences will not be moved out of its natural region or geographic area an inordinate number of times.
- If possible, rematches from the previous two tournaments should be avoided in the first round.

Just gotta say how great it is to watch SMU playing a featured national TV game on CBS with Clark Kellogg doing the call, and gumbel in studio. Could have never predicted it 5 years ago. Speaking of Kellogg, he said its not about who you play, it's who you ARE. It's easy to see we are legit, to anybody who pays the least bit of attention. We should get a 5 seed as of now. Anything worse than a 6 is a war crime. we should also get a decent location for travel, meaning not buffalo or Sacramento. if this team gets a fair path and a break or two, Final Four is clearly a realistic dream. I don't think these guys will back down to anybody.

Love the raves and endorsements for the ponies.
Personally, I'm tapping the brakes just a scootch (just to be lucky).

Shoulda known that would be misinterpreted. Not predicting a final four run, just saying it's in the realm of possibility with this team. And the point is that's something the committee should assess for every team when seeding, can this team make a run to final 4?

I actually had a gut feeling yesterday during the UCONN game that SMU will win the 2017 national championship. My mind says sweet 16 but one can hope.

How bout that Schmitt?!!!!
W/ win over UConn, @SMUBasketball becomes 6th school to win 25 games in four straight seasons (KU, Nova, Wich. St., Ariz & Gonzaga) #PonyUp
That's some fine company right there.
