I will be surprised if Roberts does half as well at SMU, especially his first year. The moveup to the next level is tough. Just ask Hopkins, who admitted that the other night on a radio interview. Also Dement does not give most freshman much playing time. Look at how Bennett has only been used sparingly despite the fact that he put up some good numbers in high school. Miller was treated the same way his first year. I hope I am wrong, but Dement tends to stay with his starting 5 most of the time and doesn't give much time to the subs unless one of the starters is injured. Expect Isham to get most of the playing time next year with Roberts only played sparingly.

Roberts scored 34 points in last night's game....and, I have to disagree that he will be used sparingly next season. That is a ludicrous and rediculous statement. It would be like saying Bosh or Hopkins will play sparingly as freshman.
Roberts is a really good "baller" and a really good guy to go along with his game!!

I don’t have his stats but from what I read Roberts has developed a very consistent outside jumper to go with his athletic game. I’m really glad we have already signed him because his stock is soaring.

I don’t understand your logic. Of course the talent level will be much higher, but wouldn’t the same thing apply to every high school player? How are you coming up with "I will be surprised if he does half as well at SMU" He is playing 5A basketball in Houston. Arguably, that is as high a level of high school bball as anywhere in the country. I saw him play last year, and I can tell you that he has it. Dement has always find a way to get his top freshmen on the floor, Hop, Sasser, Hancock, Ross.
As for Miller, wasn’t he injured a few games into his freshman year.

Miller did great in 5A and he wasn't used much. I'm not sure what division Bennett was in, but he hasn't been used much. I stand by my statement! We will know more by this time next year and not before!

Miller missed almost his entire freshman season bue to back surgery. Pretty hard to play when you can hardly walk. He's only a RS Soph. now and really hasn't played that much college basketball. I think he'll turn out to be a nice player for us when all is said and done.

Dement will play freshmen if they are good enough to contribute. If Roberts can come in and do half of what he's doing right now, he'll play and play a lot. The reason Bennett isn't playing a whole lot right now is because they're trying to groom him as the backup point. Hard to do on this level when he's not totally comfortable with it. When you're in close games all the time, you can't afford to leave him out there to make freshman mistakes.

Also don't forget that Miller is somewhat of a liability defensively, and that keeps him off the floor a little bit.

PG, I hope you are not serious about grooming Bennett as a point. He is a shooter and a scorer. He doesn't have PG instincts or mentality. Square peg, round hole. You recruit a point guard, you don't build one and it isn't like we didn't know for the last two years we only had one. Voc wasn't a sure bet to even play, much less be counted on for a serious contribution. But I guess I am just picking on Dement and his fabulous coaching ability.

When Bennett comes in, he runs the point. They need to see if he can play the position in case something happens to Voc or Hop. You never know when Voc may go down and Hop needs rests from time to time so they need someone in there who can run the point. It's obvious Bennett isn't very comfortable doing it yet. He makes a lot of freshman mistakes. Dement has always given our PGs the freedom to score so I don't think it will take away from his scoring ability. He just needs more confidence when he's out there.

There's also the possibility that he'll move back to the 2 next year when Killen gets here. We'll finally have a true backup for Hop, which will allow him to go back to his natural position.
