Tulsa had a great offensive plan the first half. Malone mad great adjustments in the second half. I wouldn't fire a DC that is under talented and uses what he has to get us bowl eligible

It seemed pretty clearly to be physical limitations to me which falls more under recruiting. Guys running right past DBs-LBs not able to contain a mediocre QB in running game. Wasn't DLine's best game either but Tulsa' Offensive Line was extremely impressive. I haven't looked at Stats but the physical limitations really showed up on 3rd downs. They would play well on 1st and 2nd down, force the QB to scramble but couldn't catch him

I’m sorry the defense might have sucked. The offense might have sputtered at the wrong times. The special teams didn’t do us any favors (two drops and pick ups from West?!). Ultimately the major suckage were those piece of [deleted] refs. They’re so bad that nobody would even ask them to volunteer to ref a game. I swear they don’t even know what a hold call is and gave their QB plenty of time for those long passes. I don’t see anyone complaining so maybe I’m just the only one. Seriously if I had gotten over to the tunnel in time I would have thrown my beer bottles and soda at them. I wish I got there in time.

The difference in the defense the last two games wasn't adjustment. It was the dline controlling the line in the second half because of the rotation. In the first half we don't get blown off the ball, we just play even, and our LBs can't make plays. In the second half, DL pushes back, we have our first shot at a tackle 2 yards behind the line and safeties clean up after a 2 yard gain.
A pocket QB outran our LBs all night long, that should say enough of where the problem is

.
I agree we don't have burners at corner, but if we actually had a legit Star, the safeties could help over the top. But we don't and they have to help on the slot.
Tactically,, I thought Malone was poor against Houston and TCU. But really the big thing is talent, especially at LB, and especially Star. Mitchell is certainly the best LB that we have, but he isn't good enough to fit that Star position. And that position is what the entire defense is predicated on.
Judge whomever is responsible for recruiting players at LB, because that is the one position we haven't seen the impact of our recruits.

When guys are running right past our DBs all night why are you focusing on Kyran-he isn't a spy he has pass defense responsibilities-the problem is at LB not the Star. Kyran is probably the least of our worries next to Lawler and Jordan Wyatt

Bigger worry is the lack of fans

Good to know you are starting to accept how bad it is. The players deserve better and it should have begun to show tonite playing for Bowl eligibility. Instead there were 3,000 fans there to celebrate bowl eligibility-the same 3,000 who were there to see our huge upset of UH last year. We are about to [deleted] away a great opportunity to build a strong program. The 9 wins or bust argument is a losing argument because no coach will stay long enough for that to happen

Yup.
Seems we have way more talent on offense than defense.
That would be hangin Chad's fault

I don't think the defensive schemes were the problem. I saw us in position to make stops and simply missed a lot of tackles. I agree wit those who say we simply need to recruit better players on the defensive side. It really is a shame that our crowd was so small. Lack of support ultimately makes it difficult to recruit better athletes and attract/retain great coaches.

You might want to buy them a beer instead of throwing bottles at them
How many times have you seen the parncer dancer receiver get called for celebrating before he
scores taking away the TD:?: That ticky tak call gave us the game.

Maybe we should try the halftime speech before the game starts...

I think many of us recognize that Mitchell is our best LB (by a mile) but feel he is playing out of position at the Star (especially on third down).
