SMU basketball is nowhere as popular as it was the first season in new Moody. Everything was new and exciting. Even last year, when we had a better team, I didn't have co-workers asking me about the next game, looking for insights on the team, or asking for spare tickets like I did that first year. (Until tournament time, when I got to enjoy the enthusiasm for all of 4 days.)
I think it'll take a Sweet 16 appearance or a top 10 ranking to get back to those levels. That's not to say Moody isn't still a huge advantage for our team - our record speaks for itself - but I think expectations have been unrealistic since that first year...
There are of course changes to the MOB that are partially responsible, but I think those issues would be mostly covered up if the "buzz" came back.
And in regards to Sunday's game, the whole thing felt like a 40 minute kick in the nuts. Most people in my section stuck around and did a passable job of cheering until the bitter end, but it was pretty forced.

Crowd continues to shrink...Nic Moore had to be stunned.

Naw, he remembers his "sit-out" year and Moody Mausoleum. And then there was the loyal 150 that went to Garland.

The good ole days of a well coached, disclipined team versus watching a team that looks like its playing a pick up game on the neighborhood court.

What a load of whining crap. This staff has taken a massive probation hit, graduates three NBA players, and loses 40% if its starters during the season this year (and the two best starters at that). Buy some freaking perspective.

Hope is more expensive.
When it comes to perspective, I rent to own - I have a lease with an option to buy.
