Good offensive coach, average recruiter, terrible defense. Likely won't change much at Arkansas. Do the numbers below look SEC Championship caliber?
Chavis, like Van Malone, will be his downfall. I told everyone from Day 1 that Malone was in over his head, and most attacked and said he just needs more time.
Texas A&M defense under Chavis:
2017.....
Total defense: 408.5 yards/game (No. 78 nationally, No. 9 SEC)
Scoring defense: 30.7 points/game (No. 87 nationally, No. 10 SEC)
2016.....
Total defense: 441.8 yards/game (No. 90 nationally, No. 10 SEC)
Scoring defense: 24.5 points/game (t-No. 39 nationally, No. 7 SEC)
2015.....
Total defense: 380.0 yards/game (No. 51 nationally, No. 8 SEC)
Scoring defense: 22.0 points/game (t-No. 28 nationally, No. 7 SEC)
Best thing Sonny has done since arriving at SMU is hiring Kevin Kane.

This article seems to indicate SMU was not the only former school he didn't seem to want to talk about:https://www.chron.com/sports/aggies/art ... 083257.php

We just got our tickets for the Bama/Hog game on 10/6. I’ll be wearing a Bama shirt with an SMU cap... telling the delusional Hogs they just need to get 1% better everyday (I think we’ve all heard that somewhere)... Chad’s in very deep do-do!

That would be an improvement from where the Arkansas defense has been the last two years lol

.........Chavis, 61, has a reputation to rebuild following his A&M stint. For instance, the Aggies allowed 1,247 yards in his final two games last season, losses to LSU and Wake Forest.
ΓÇ£As I shared with him, I said, ΓÇÿCoach Chavis, I believe I can help you in your career because if you can defend me and defend our defense, you can defend a lot of people across the country,’ΓÇ¥ Morris said.
.........Huh? Great reason to hire a DC......to try to help resurrect his declining career.

I can't believe that fraud had the nerve to drop Aggie phrases at his pig SEC introduction speech.
The SMU people bowed down to Hogman so much they let him put that damn Aggie Lock Arms flag up at Ford.
I would like to think the Pigs would go ballistic if he tries Aggie stuff up there. They may not be smart but at least they have a spine unlike most (actually, all) people in the SMU athletic department.

What was worse:

JJ isn't about rainbows and ponies.
I never understood the whole pony thing either. Aren't we the mustangs? Might as well be the cupcakes.
