Here's a hint, not counting their signing bonus, much less than $50k yet alone $100k. Same can be said for the DLeauge or whatever it's called now. Everyone think it will translate over, it won't. College football has a built in fan base called alumni and college students. Take away that affiliation and interest would plummet. But if someone wants to make a go of it, please by all means do. I'm a free market guy. But the exposure college football players get on Saturday's in fall is greater than any minor league system could ever provide, and that will be tough to overcome.
Average minor league baseball salaries go from $15-$30,000 annually. Max salary for the NBA G-League is $26,000. Ignoring the value of the education and other services, many players would take a pay cut in the minor league model just considering their current room and board allowance and COA stipend.

The main benefit for the athlete is that if they aren't cut out for the academic side of college ball, an alternative would exist. I just don't see any huge marketing/profit potential, but always thought something along the lines of minor league baseball or the NBA developmental league would be viable. Would be interesting to see how many top athletes would go pro vs college

Minor league baseball players are not raking in the cash.
