Re: Ben(ch) Hicks
In his last two games, Pick Six Hicks, has thrown more td's to the CUSA opposition, than SMU receivers.

After watching Hicks up close for the last 2 games, you wonder how many times Sonny has cursed Morris for leaving him zero alternatives.
Very, very likely Sonny has a grad transfer starting at QB next year.

Hey Bo Levi's a superstar in the Canadian League. Hicks will not have a professional career in football but I wish him the best in everything he does.

There were alternatives, they just apparently sucked tooΓÇöPeavy and Gillens, who are backups now at FAU and UTSA.
I thought Sonny should have pursued a grad transfer QB after the debacle that was the Frisco Bowl, knowing he was about to lose two WRs to the NFL. At least bring in someone to really push Hicks in camp...Upshaw and Brown werenΓÇÖt going to do that.
I hope Hicks can turn it around for this seasonΓÇÖs sake, but IΓÇÖm not optimistic at all. He perpetually has that deer in the headlights look and is incapable of making something happen when the protection breaks down...and judging by the OLΓÇÖs equally abysmal performance on Saturday, things may get a LOT worse before they get better with TCU and Michigan on deck.

I do wonder how long the leash is for Hicks...I had flashbacks to the Kyle Padron A&M game when he was the clear cut starter going into the season and then was effectively benched for the remainder of his SMU career a few drives into the game. Hicks was just as bad if not worse on Saturday (against considerably worse competition).

If I remember correctly, Padron missed the team bus to A&M. JJ started him anyway. His first two drives he threw picks, and not good picks. There was a lot of talk on this board at the time that after his benching he became an attitude problem. After that JJ McDermet became the starter the rest of the way. Padron did an interview with PonyPride a month later where he said all of the right things, but then he got hurt and that basically ended his SMU career.
Someone else should remember the details better than I do.

Hicks is a legend in his own mind.
Very slow mechanics/decision making. OL was indeed terrible though.

Agree with you FBD ......an SEC or B12 back-up would be far superior to Mr. Hicks !

Re: Ben(ch) Hicks
For better or worse, Hicks is our only option this season.
Those backups on the bench aren't viable as a starters. Hicks is a third-year starter and we need him to act like one or we are screwed for 2018.

Re: Ben(ch) Hicks
I have always been surprised we can never seem to get 'that' QB. JJ had a passing offense, Chad had an offense that frequently passed (or at least tried to) and SD was known for a passing style offense. Yet, none of them seem to have been able to get a stellar QB who can guide an offense as well as be an effective passer.
