Only one of those titles came after they dropped football. In fact, they have just two Frozen Four appearances since 1997 compared to 12 at Boston College.

BU Basketball? Two NCAA's in the last 20 years.

I know, but it hasn't hurt their enrollment or their academic standing. That, and last year they were in the top 5 at some point. The school is fine without it.

Very few people in Boston care about college football. Quite different than Texas...it would be devastating here.

SMU is pouring money into a pit to play football with the fairly unrealistic hope that some day some conference will accept us and we will again be able to play and recruit with the big boys. In the interim, we have over 30 years proving we are absolutely not worthy of consideration for an invite to another conference.

Biggest challenge SMU football faces is that it's big money boosters are not getting any younger and this school has done it's best to alienate it's students/alumni over the past 30 years post death penalty...doesn't bode well for financial support in the future.

Maybe we need an article about dropping SMU football to break our P5 losing streak
