Chad Lover !!

With your Florida ties I knew you would advocate hanging Chad. (Pun intended)

I, for one was glad when CM came here. However the luster wore off pretty fast as it was obvious that he used us to get to Texas. I do not criticize him for going to a better opportunity but the way he left was totally classless and shows his real moral fiber. I have always had immense dislike for arky since the days of the SWC, frank broyles, and lou (the lisp) holtz so it is really easy to root against them and CM losing just adds to that.

They're in the drivers seat. He was the running backs coach under Leach there back in the day. I've heard from a UNT football staffer that that's where he wants to go back. If I had to bet on it, I'd say he's their next head coach next year and takes Graham Harrell with him to be the OC there too. Personally, I think he should aim higher.

He wanted the Aggie gig...he just didn't get 'em.

Ehh, I'm not sure what people here or at Arkansas were expecting for this first season. Bret Bielema left that team in shambles. Last year they were 4-8 with wins over Florida A&M, New Mexico State, Coastal Carolina, and Ole Miss and that was w/a fairly good senior QB running the show. Plus they were only able to sign like 15 players in the offseason. Arkansas was going to have full blown rebuild regardless of who they hired.

I'm guessing (and rightly so) they weren't expecting to blow a 4th qtr lead to a Mountain West Conference team and lose......

.....and also get blown out by a Conference USA team AT HOME......

both while looking totally unprepared by a coaching staff with that 'deer in the headlights' look on their faces.

I'm just guessing though.

They expected to win at home against UNT when favored by a TD and not get spanked. At least make a game of it.

And show some semblance of being prepared in all three phases. Chad just cares about offense - we know that from the past three seasons.

I loved the comment on one of the articles referring to the punt return about what have they been doing all spring and summer? Making uniform videos.

I thought the hiring of Chad was outstanding. Some how I had the delusional fantasy that he would stick around for at least 4/5 years and demonstrate that he was the guy to build programs and then move up the coaching chain. No illusions that he would leave SMU at some point for a P5 program. The Baylor situation in his 2d year demonstrated to me that he was not the guy to build the SMU program and get things back to a competitive level. ( I know, 7 wins with an embarrassing schedule. ) As a result, I was pleased that he was offered and took off to Ark. This just saved a year from the start of another SMU rebuild. I wish him well as I thought he gave SMU 2 good years of recruiting effort even though many of his recruits may not pan out remembering that our program was beyond terrible and he faced an almost impossible task of trying to start a rebuild. At a minimum he contacted and opened up a huge number of high schools in Texas where SMU had no inroads for many, many years. He did bring attention back to SMU with his constant contact with Texas high school coaches and generated some publicity with the chopper game visits....etc. Hence, let us give him credit for re-establishing some building blocks and doing positive things. No animosity from me; just good riddance.

As someone has mentioned many times, Morris did a terrific job managing his career, and took advantage of a desperate Arkansas program at the perfect time. His value peaked last year, and will only go down as he struggles at Arky, and likely gets fired around year 4.
