Hope I'm wrong and Jank can lead this team to a strong season and pull in a strong class for next year, but if not...need to hope the money men are willing to pay what it takes to convince a big name to take over the program. SMU hoops has a much better chance of competing at the highest level than the football program does.
Exactly! It took UCONN a ton of money and two wasted years to figure that out. I too hope Jank can get it together but I'm very doubtful and would bet against it at this point. It's never too early to plan ahead.
Even WITH the notable hires that Memphis and UCONN have they are just at the bottom of the curve and are starting to head back up. There's no way we compete in the years ahead with Marshall, Sampson, Dunleavy, Penny, Hurley, Cronin, Dawkins etc.....we need a guy.
note: hah...I left Cronin out of the first draft. He must have been standing behind Penny and Dawkins.

I would be willing to take 3 years of top 15 success another 5 years of NCAA investigations. Would you?

No no no on Pitino. We don't need that. I do like the Jason Kidd idea though. And of course Van Gundy if he's available.
Which reminds me. Why not Franschilla? Seems like the perfect fit.

.... and Fran wouldn’t need housing.
No friggin way on Pitino. That’s just asking for it.
Kidd? Haven’t thought much about him since he bounced off a telephone pole just down the road apiece.

Love the Franschilla idea. Kidd would be worthless.
If you want to return to Larry Brown success, you need to hire a Larry Brown kind of coach.

And you think Fran is one? There's a reason he's in broadcasting these days.

We don't need that crap with Pitino. Moody and SMU are in a place where we will be the most attractive job on the market when the position becomes available.
No way on Jason Kidd. If we are going ex-Mav, then grab Dirk after he retires.

You don't think Kidd could do pretty well on the recruiting trail?

Same reason as Van Grundy. It’s a low pressure job that pays.

Life's about pressure.
