I'm assuming we would lose the conference championship game at UCF. Then depending on who we play in a bowl game would finish the season at best 7-7 or at worst 6-8, which to me is not a good look.
No google allowed. Tell me the final record of the 6 win bowl teams last year. Nobody pays attention to that. You want the practices, the swag, the experience of a bowl game for both fans and players, and at least a losing trophy for the trophy case. Of course we fans may cringe a little but it is just a blip in the big scheme of things. The little bowls are for fun. Only the big boys get serious.
I definitely want to go to a bowl game. I just don't want us to back our way into the conference championship game as a 6-6 game against a great opponent we would likely lose to. Watching that game would probably not be very fun and then we would be a 6-7 team heading to a bowl game. If we go to a bowl game and lose ending the season 6-7 I would not be happy, but would not be embarrassed either given that it happens every season to multiple teams under the current bowl setup. I agree that no one will remember that. However, the UCLA scenario was unique and not in a good way so I did not have to google that.

I disagree. A national TV game against Central Florida would be great exposure for the program with all of the attention on their win streak and CFP aspirations!

Especially if we hang with them.
Absolutely agree. What if we were the team to knock them off? We've played them close the last couple of times. You never know. It's not like they are Michigan - who we also hung with into the 3rd (and should have been leading in the 3rd).
