Re: RB Ulysses Bentley
Bentley is a game changer with his quickness and breakaway speed. I'm pretty happy with the 3 RBs who have carried the load so far, but we do have to keep in mind the level of competition (defensively) is not what we are going to see when we hit the AAC schedule

Right. I don't think we can expect 225 a game. But he looked really good out there.

Yep. All have performed well.
Re: RB Ulysses Bentley
I don’t know if I have seen a player with the ability to change direction and juke like UBIV
Also don’t think I’ve ever seen a 185 lb player hit so hard and play like he’s 230 lbs like that

As a old person that had many collisions, I would advise him to save that for when it was really needed.
A conversation with ED would be a nice start to longevity.
LOVE the ATTITUDE!

Re: RB Ulysses Bentley
I'm trying to remember the last SMU running back who was that impressive as a freshman. Maybe Donte Womack?
I know, it was only Texas State and North Texas State. But Bentley is really impressive.

I love the burst he has, from 0 to 60 in the blink of an eye.

Yes. And that was the last player who had this level of shake to his game.
In that season, none of the other backs could run the ball. All of a sudden Charles got the ball and it was magic, 200 yards. I was reminded of it when Bentley was ripping UNT up, and then McDaniel would get in the game and all of a sudden it was a loss of 4 on the play.
When the defense has to stay in their lane to protect against a cutback, it opens up the opportunity to follow the original running play a lot easier. When a RB isn't a threat to switch the point of attack, everyone can just run to the play and swarm. What makes players like Lavine and Zach Line so effective, is that they know where the hole is going to be, be patient for the hole to develop before you show your hand, and then hit the hole full force.
McDaniels is doing what Line did early on - doesn't have the patience, goes a direction before the hole opens, and allows everyone to swarm. And doesn't quite have the speed to cut back against the swarm.
Bentley shows a great combination of patience, speed, and athleticism. And that is very reminiscent of Charles.

Re: RB Ulysses Bentley
We have 2 running backs in the top 10 with Bentley being Number One!
Long live Inez Perez!

...and I feel obligated to point out that Shane Buechele is second in NCAA passing.
