Sonny is not going to TCU. Neither is Napier, neither is Matt Campbell. TCU will end up with the 8th choice on their list, just like Tech. Probably Deion. Stability and winning at a decent school is a path to the big time. The Big 12 isn't. Coaches clearly don't value the conference.

JasonB I value your articulate insights as much or more than anyone on this board and I take your word to the bank. But Deion to TCU? Honestly I think that this flirtation is just to make their search appear inclusive and to distract from the fact that there is a pending deal with Dykes. Sonny clearly sees it as his duty to finish out the season with this team and my guess is that he will move on immediately after our bowl. At the same time I agree with you. A Big 12 job is just a stepping stone for a better conference. A couple more really good years here and Sonny is off to the SEC.

If he moves on, it won't be to TCU.

TCU is going to get Deion or a coordinator from a bigger program. The point I was trying to make is that they aren't getting their first choice, they are going to have to settle for the 8th person on their list, just like Tech did.

I'm not saying Pete Thamel is always right or anything but he has far more credibility than Engel. And he views Sonny to TCU as a done deal--that it would be "stunning" if Dykes doesn't go and that there is "little ambiguity of where this will land."

I would pay far more attention to the "if Texas A&M job opens" part than anything else.
