Mack hates SMU. Goes back to when UNC visited the old Owenby in the 90s and pulled out a win in a close game with one of Rossley's squads. He went off in the post game on the SMU facilities and gameday atmosphere and said he would never bring his team back to play SMU. Think he called us Bush League. And I have to say that he probably had a point, since I think his team had a locker room over in the Dedman center and had to walk across a street to get to the stadium from the visitor's locker room.
Didn't stop Mack from sending his lawyer Joe Jamail to Dallas to openly beg for the SMU job a few years back.

IF ACC expands with:

SMU
UCONN
TULANE
RICE

Paying each 10 million, that should leave approximately 25 million each (100 million total). If the ACC rewarded the conference champ and runner up with a 60/40 split, this would make winning the ACC over the next 10 years very lucrative.

I think the AD's and the Presidents/Boards of Trustees hold all the power in realignment. What Mack Brown wants is pretty irrelevant. UNC, NC State and Clemson as far as SMU is concerned may be maleable. Clemson and UNC are charter members and have relationships with Wake, UVA and Duke which favor expansion. I think their reaction was to newbie ND coming in and pushing them to do something. Once they cool off and if Wake, UVA and Duke powers that be can talk them down from the ledge, they will see the benefits of expansion.
