No, that's a terrible spot. That means SMU could beat the winner of ND/UVa *and* beat Wake and still have zero Q1 wins to show for it. Being in the top half without uNC means that getting a Q1 win from the ACC Tournament is an all-or-nothing proposition against what is by far the best team in the ACC--and it would take two other wins to even get that chance.indianmustang wrote:even SMU finishes 5th not a bad spot.
The only way this team is making the NCAA tourney is by winning the AAC tourney. That ain't happening. We are NIT bound and that's where they belong this year. They have had how many Q1 chances and how many were they blown out in? Remember the good old days with LB, when ranked teams came into Moody and left with their tails between their legs. Then you get TJ and the reseat and everything comes crashing down.Dukie wrote:No, that's a terrible spot. Well, SMU won't be winning the AAC tourney. And almost certainly not the ACC tourney. But an at-large bid is entirely possible. It requires winning out and drawing the best possible position in the tournament draw. Go Ponies, Lose Em All Deacs, and Go Tar Holes (until the Duke game).mustang1992 wrote:The only way this team is making the NCAA tourney is by winning the AAC tourney. That ain't happening. Yep, literally no one said winning the ACC tournament is impossible. (Though mustang1992 almost certainly meant to say that.)EastStang wrote:I think winning the ACC tournament is not impossible. Duke could decide to rest players since they've probably locked up a 1 seed in the NCAA tournament and not play them against GT or SMU. I don't expect that, but the ACC Tournament has long been a upset tournament where a team like NC State suddenly gets hot and wins the tournament. I agree there are two paths both involve winning out and by the way, CAL is a trap game tonight at 10 p.m. Central Time.
I think the end of Duke's bench still beats us.EastStang wrote:I think winning the ACC tournament is not impossible.
