That was coaching that lead to the blocked kick that allowed us to win @ Duke despite one of Jennings' worst games this year. What ALL the visiting teams learned this weekend was how important it is to earn the higher seeds and get home games.PerunaPunch wrote:That's a little harsh, don't ya think?shadowman wrote:No sliver lining here, we got our butts handed to us, they were bigger, stronger, more disciplined, better coached.
Play that game twenty times, and we would lose every one.
Keep the check books open, we need better players to compete at that level.
Was a reality check.
Any objective follower of this team should acknowledge the flaws and the fact that the Mustangs were punching waaaaay over their weight class. Saturday was not the result we were hoping for, but a team that was picked to finish in 7th in the ACC preseason poll going to the show is beyond amazing! The fact that they did as well as they did is a testament to the team's character and coaching.

Re: Silver Linnings
It was the first really cold game of Jennings' life. He would never make that an excuse, nor would Lashlee or anyone else on the team. But the fact is that it is harder to throw and catch a football when it's really cold. The Penn State guys have more practice at it.
While I agree that there is a talent difference at some spots, and PSU's depth is better, I'd stop short of that 20-for-20 prediction. Bring them to Dallas in late August or early September and it would be a very different outcome. Would we win? I don't know, but if not, it would be nowhere near that lopsided, and there's no way they'd win 20 games in those conditions.

If it were possible, I would gladly take the other side of that PSU going 21 for 21 bet.shadowman wrote:Very true, Hibner was wide open, KJ just threw a terrible pass, if he would have put it anywhere between the receiver and the pylon, easy touchdown.highlander wrote:Or he throws a halfway decent pass to Hibner who walks in for a TD. 7-0 Mustangs.MV pony wrote:KJ takes 2 additional steps instead of throwing an incomplete pass to Hibner and who knows.
I like KJs decision there because Hibner was wide open. KJ just threw it to the left of Hibner where the defender was.
In the end, did not matter, and even if we did complete that for a TD, result would have still been the same.

I just wish we could have played Penn State in the same weather conditions Clemson had vs Texas in Austin
Re: Silver Linnings
I wish we could have gotten UT in Austin. That might have been quite a game. Clemson beat us and should have had the higher seed and the privilege of playing in Happy Valley.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna

Once again the committee "taking care of" Texas. After we got the death penalty and the SWC broke up, I remember Texas' AD saying they would NEVER voluntarily play SMU again. They don't want to give us a shot at credibility and remain bitter of our beating them in the Pony Express era. Sad thing is their payroll might have been higher than ours even back in that eraEastStang wrote:I wish we could have gotten UT in Austin. That might have been quite a game.
