There was a report in Texas Football that indicated Webb may have misgivings about going to SMU and one of the issues given weight was his hours that transferred.
Some on this board accused the SMU administration of "there we go again" antics for transfer rules to an obviously intelligent full qualifier (1300 sat?) out of high school (despite the fact that we have had NUMEROUS transfers and JC recruits in the past 3 years).
To which a battle ensued over inuendo and assumptions:
1) Was it REALLY the transferable credit hours that was at issue? (one writer pointed out that it wasn't that the NW credits didn't transfer, just that NW is on the 1/4 system and SMU has a quite normal %-transfer policy similar to other semester-based schools).
2) did he really want to play anymore? Why would he give up the free education and instead decide to pay for it, this after getting an EXTRA year of eligibility just a few weeks earlier - and being enrolled in SMU summer school (presumably to get an edge on classes).
To which, I and others said "This is just rumour, we don't even know for sure that he ISN'T coming to SMU in the Fall ANYWAY!"
No one disputed that inquiry.
I did post, on the assumption that he was going back to NW, that he must have decided not to play FB since returning to NW meant that he would be giving up a FREE education at SMU to PAY for one at NW, even if he would have to stay an extra semester or two to graduate (because of the RUMOURED non-transfer of NW credits), so what? Since he was (assumed) going back to NW, then he must not have wanted to play FB anymore...but...
Now, if what you are saying is TRUE, then GREAT!!!
I am happy he is coming. He will have 4 years of paid school to play 3...he could probably start MBA GRAD school on scholarship to boot.
