1983 Cotton Bowl wrote:Bennett never coached in the Cotton Bowl. The Ponies moved to Ford in 2000 when Cavan was coach. The point, however, is very valid.
I know, I was combining awful aspects of our program to draw an analogy. Cotton Bowl = Liberty Bowl; Bennett = Porter; Copeland = R.C.

Think of the local economy advantage of having W Virgina show up in a floatilla of RV's ala Razorbacks - parking them in the W library parking lot for a week, swinging by the Tx nascar deal to see it before they head off back to the hills. There would be a bidding war for the false teeth and moonshine concession.

Parking lot isn't big enough, UP police would just kick them out and make sure its Dallas's problem. Good luck getting a sofa off of craigslist during that time, they will all be on fire.

From Chuck Carlton DMN
RT @PeteThamelNYT: While Big East football ADs are pushing for Boise, was told "no steam for Boise" today on BE call. Still a LONG shot.

I can see the Big East Presidents quashing that-especially with pressure about concern about interests of student athletes. Football Coaches, ADs and fans say whatthehell but Presidents might just balk-I mean Boise is almost on the West Coast. Personally taking their BCS points out of the equation, I think Southern Miss makes more sense for the Southern Division

Wouldn't they almost have to be included for BE to maintain long-term BCS standing? They're the only major chip left out there with substantial success/BCS appearances over the last ten years.

If I were running things I would add 6 teams to get the following conference:
West
SMU
Houston
Southern Miss
Memphis
Louisville
Cincinnati
East
UCF
USF
Temple
UCONN
Rutgers
West Virginia
Feel free to trade UCF and USF for Cincinnati and Louisville if you want North South. With these additions you still have a very strong basketball conference and would strongly consider splitting from the basketball schools.

We should invite them to hold it at SMU and have some of our co-eds serve them lunch.

People are thinking it will be Temple and UCF first and then they wait to see what Big 12 and SEC do.

Count me in if we get BCS status, but this is going to be a challenge-unfortunately w/o the local attendance bump of C-USA

So, what, they are going to offer a SINGLE school to take it to 7? I guess that would be in line with the bizarre way the BE has handled the whole realignment thing, but that seems like pretty weak fire. The BE needs to send a message--that they've got their sh*t together and are moving in a strong, positive way. One school?
