Three thoughts:
1. The Nielsen February Sweeps begin Thursday, Jan. 30. If this is a dynamite story, why wouldn't the station hold it until then? Possible answers: they are afraid someone will beat them to it, or it's not something that will move viewership numbers in a big way. Let's hope for the later.
2. I've inferred that he is implying that SMU had some knowledge of the grade change. Does he have rock solid proof? If not, this is yellow (or maybe orange) journalism at its finest.
3. Sending a reporter to that post-game news conference, when they don't send sports reporters to cover out-of-town games, is a chicken-$#!& move.
