A grocery chain in the mid 70s in Michigan was named Farmer Jacks .
Their slogan was, you can't beat the meat at Farmer Jacks

I once was CEO at a small S&L called Certified Savings. I put together a program for our borrowers to pay off their mortgages early. I called it the Certified Loan Acceleration Plan. I ran a local radio ad telling folks to come to Certified and get the CLAP. I was asked to stop the ad after a short but very well received run. True story.

Clever. Who asked you to stop?

This was in Georgetown, Tx when the population was under 5,000. I would just go down to the local station and tape my ads in their production booth. They understood the humor but after a while thought it might be in their best interest if the ad was pulled. I had no problem in doing so. They were the only station in town so I did not want to get them into any trouble or cause them to lose business. The community did not get upset, at least from the feedback I heard. Most thought it was funny. The rest did not catch the nuance. The station did not have that big of a following anyway. Most listened to Austin stations.

My goodness. This was in the late 70's or early 80's. I have no recollection. It was an AM station I am pretty sure and played current music of the day, primarily country, but also lite rock if I recall correctly. I doubt I would remember the call letters if I heard them but I might.

I think it was KGTN. Google says they started in 1962. Do not think it exists anymore.
