The team was just flat. Rice, however, does look pretty good, they have lost some close ones and are much better than their record. They played great D and worked [deleted] Offense to get good shots. Karzemi looks like a legitimate candidate for POY in C-USA.
Once again the youngsters just didn't do much. Manual looked good on some drives, but he was dreadful at the freetrhow line and had ballhogitis, when he got the ball, he put his head down to drive and was not going to give it up, had some TOs and missed some open looks.
Jones looked good on defense and has good energy, but he has zero offense, he has no clue how to score and has a brick shot from outside.
Cunningham and Smith just looked lost all game.
We really need to stick with Samp, Nyk, Giles, Pats, and Williams. We look the best when they are on the court.
I know some of you want the younger guys playing, but they just arent showing anything and if they are weak minded enough to pout or transfer because they are not getting minutes, then they don't belong here. You have to earn playing time, and none of the young ones has earned it. Bring them in to change the pace now and then, but we need to ride our upper classman, we didnt have our best team on the floor for much of the night tonight and it showed.
We lost all the benefit of beating Tulsa on the road by dumping to Rice at home, so back to the drawing board. I look forward to a good effort Saturday.
I thought Manuel was actually pretty good tonight. Can't hit a FT to save his life, but the only guy on the whole roster to actually put his head down absorb contact and get to the hole. So tired of watching the, reverse pivot and just play hand-off 5 ft outside the 3pt line. Manuel was a breath of fresh air in that way, until the FT line.
Also, Shawne Williams is a heist. He has slow feet so can't play 3, but isn't a PF. He takes a lot of face up jumpers and doesn't hit many.
Of the frosh, Cannen & Jalen are the two that leave me wondering. Cannen is soft by rep, but he's even softer than I'd imagined. Jalen, like Shawne, is a tweener w/o the size to be a big, or the wing skill to be a perimeter player.
