Re: GAME THREAD: SMU at North Texas
for over 65 years I have been a rabid, die hard mustang fan. I kept hoping, year after year that I would see us return to our prior glory. guess it is time to finally realize that will never happen and need to move on and continue to support my home state team, a team who can win and whose admin realizes sports are also important to a university.. SMU is becoming just what RGT wants- a failure, so he can drop sports.

Same old story: our receivers have to struggle to get open while our opponents receivers are running free.
Long live Inez Perez!

Defense is going to look really bad in this. But can't do anything when you've literally been on the field the entire game, plus had a guy ejected in the first five minutes of the game.

Chad has managed his career masterfully and I don't think coaching this year's team to a 5-7 finish after going 7-5 the year before would have been good for his career trajectory.
Baylor was going to double his salary too. Again, it makes no sense to act like he was trying to run away when he was essentially being promoted in the CFB world.
Again...you are missing the point. It's not that he was "running away" but I think he knew timing was right to take the promotion he had been working towards. I doubt he saw another 7 win season this year and it wasn't like another 7-5 season would have helped his career trajectory. The simple FACT of the matter is that his year's schedule is much more difficult than last year's and I don't know how Chad would have felt about possibly following that 7-5 finish with a losing record. Could have taken some of the shine off his star. I've always like the guy and was glad we had him, if only for 3 years. I loved his work at Clemson and was glad he waited on SMU when he had other opportunities to become a HC. I hope he does well at Arkansas and I have never been critical of his decision to leave when he did. My entire point was meant as a compliment to the guy. His timing was good and he's coaching in what is probably the toughest division in college football.
