The whole game presentation at the Navy game was a perfect example of how soft we are. That wasn't a game presentation. That was a demonstration of how we want to be friendly, inviting and making sure our visitors are welcomed while we kiss their [deleted] and let them win the game.

While being friendly is one thing, we still don't present the image that we're serious and when you play SMU you better bring it.

Wish I had been able to go. My last trip out to Stanford was one of the best road trips I ever made following the Mustangs. Its a great place to visit. I wish we had won a game or two in this tourney, It would have been great to make a fall trip to Syracuse. Oh well.

I just wonder what makes SMU athletics in general so damn soft.

BUT hoops = more fun than football. Maybe because I have zero expectations

I think it's the mentality and the culture. All of the head football coaches since the DP have been pretty soft in their nature. All of the ADs have been like that. All of the guys who have come through here don't bring that sense of urgency and intensity.

That's not a knock but that's us.

Umm, Bennett and his staff were constantly in the grills of his players. Look how that turned out. Its hard to put a finger on where the "softness" comes from. Some of these kids come from very tough backgrounds. Is it the "life" on campus? Doh has been accused of being a bit of a hot head over the years, so I can't believe that the "soft" comes from the coaching staff we have now. I'm not disputing the soft tag, but I think the source has to be outside of the coaching staffs.
