I think Hicks is great. He’s one of the few players I’m looking forward to continue with us. I just really hope the young guys take over and we see an improvement in defense next year.

Hitting 48% of his passes, with a healthy proportion of bubble screens. 2-9 on third down doesn’t cut it on any level.

Translated this means: it was close until it wasn't close. Familiar? I seem to remember that we started every game tied for the lead.

"tough son of a gun"
Kid has the worst body language in D1, constantly pouting and throwing his hands up, etc.
Good one Stallion, good one.

28 TDs
7 Ints with one they couldn't have been more perfect
0 fumbles
3087 passing yards
If all our players improved as much as Hicks then we'd be great. If he remains healthy he'll break every passing record in the SMU recordbook
BTW footballdad I'm 11-0 this year so none of this comes as a big surprise to me-I know exactly what is going on this rebuild-but thanks anyway for your concern

It was not a "war crime" game as some have been the last four years. It is evident to me that both our Defensive talent and scheme are lacking. Parts (Wyatt) that stand out do not make a whole complete.
It will be interesting to see what happens this week with this team. There have been two consecutive games that we were pummeled, and I would think that the mind set is a bit fragile. We will now get a chance to see how MUCH we have progressed mentally as we prepare to play against the Vomit Surge.

So this is where you saw our defense in the 3rd year of the rebuild?

This one is on the D. We don't have the overall horses up front to shut down the run. We don't have enough overall linebacker speed to stuff the run and cover the pass. In other words, we need to up grade our front D 7. Until that happens, we will struggle to stop other teams.
Not having the abiltiy to stop the other team puts much pressure on our O. We neede more talent on the D side of the ball. A young scondary and a small and weak front 7 isn't a great combination.

We hung with a high-powered top 25 team on the road until it got out of hand.
Not the end of the world, but so so frustrating.

No I had thought that McLaurin, Badejo and Spears et al would have filled some holes-so yes I'm concerned that we've gotten nothing from them. But I'm not shocked we got beat by 21 today considering we were playing 2nd stringers in Lancaster, Ward, McNew, McQueen and Scott-I'm not sure I saw Hailey but he was in there a lot against Navy. I was concerned all week this had the recipe for a blowout but hedged back to a 13 point loss. Memphis is 10-1-a Top 20 team on the road and we are beat up. But its not a shock we lost to No. 15 UCF despite a chance to win late in game, not a surprised we lost to Navy on the road on final play. This was an expected 3 game losing streak--shouldn't surprise any one
