Re: Burger wars, re-visited
Tried a burger at Haystack (SW corner of Belt Line and 75).
Didn't expect much after standing in line to order, but very pleasantly surprised (and not just by the "Haymaker," the frozen Maker's Mark drink that apparently is the place's signature offering … although that was damned good, too).
The burger had almost a smoky flavor and was, in a word, fantastic. Not very greasy. Should have ditched the mustard, but it wasn't overwhelming. Thick slice of cheese. Very good with extra onions.
The fries were pretty average, but the burger was well worth the trip.

Ate at Grub this weekend, though the outpost in The Woodlands. Got a custom burger with bacon, goat cheese, and grilled onions. Unbelievable. One of the best burgers I've ever had. Can't wait to try the Greenville Avenue location.

Went to Grub on Greenville today - had to buy a gift card for the outpost in Midland - the food they were bringing out looked very appetizing - wish I could've stayed for lunch. Have never eaten there but heard they needed some work on their buns.

Keep your biscuits in the oven and your buns in the bed.

Had lunch at the Midland store today. Very good burgers. The milkshakes are not bad either.

I hear the adult version of the salted caramel milkshake is good.

went for dinner while power was out. Cheese fries sucked. Wife liked her food. I didn't eat after the cheese fries.Bergermeister wrote:ponyboy wrote:Ate at Grub this weekend, though the outpost in The Woodlands. Got a custom burger with bacon, goat cheese, and grilled onions. I've had a lot of these so called best burgers in Dallas. I think at the moment my favorite is Off Site Kitchen's Double Deluxe burger by a wide margin. Number 2 would be LA Burger's namesake.... that bun..
Re: Burger wars, re-visited
Off Site Kitchen's Double Deluxe is really outstanding. But I still have yet to taste anything that beats Goodfriend.

Which burger in particular? I've been there like 3 times and I've always had the El Jefe which I've liked, but not above Off Site Kitchen. Those brisket nachos are the [deleted] though

Re: Burger wars, re-visited
I think Goodfriends' are all very good but not as outstanding as my good friends make them out to be. Of course they all live in the neighborhood, which is one of the deciding factors in picking a favorite.
Re: Burger wars, re-visited
Has anyone tried this thing at Goodfriend yet? I love their food, but haven't been there in a while, and when I saw this written up, I was curious. It's called the "annihilator."
