The problem with this philosophy is when you use it to play teams with no inside threat:
"Hi, we are a perimeter shooting team; we are absolutely terrible inside."
"Yeah, but we are going to shut you down in the paint!"
"Okay, we weren't going try that anyway. Thanks!"

This team is one and done in the tourney. You can't play defense like this and win against teams with quality guards. This is flat out insane.
