UCONN basically gave the game to Cincy with their physical play. Clark was like 15 for 16 from FT line. I've come to admire SMU's style of play which avoids silly fouls. You can play tough defense without fouling. UCONN earned most of their fouls. I notice the other team with the smallest number of fouls is National Champion Villanova. UCONN played that game as if it were 1990-but the rules have changed. You can't play that style any more. UCONN is a reflection of their Coach-undisciplined

Some of us spend 10-12 years in Dallas. We consider it "finishing school".

So true. There is just no purposeful leadership there.
Obviously you don't learn much in four years when you have a freshman (Vital) constantly telling a senior (Brimah) what to do. Time for a regime change.... not a conference change.

PonyRef wrote:As much as I enjoyed witnessing beating UConn 2 years ago, I can only take so much of the drunken UConn fan. Every single of of the 32 fouls call against them was the worst call of all time. Yes, every single one of them. The F bombs flying with no regard for close by women and children. I guess there is nothing to do up here but drink, watch UConn basketball, and yell/boo at opposing teams and refs. Any semblence of basic rule knowledge is not a prerequisite.
Yes, it will be a small crowd, but much rather get the rubber match with Cincy then deal with these drunken idiots again.
Amped up even more yesterday by a St Pattys day parade before the game. The drunks were even drunkier than normal.

So true. We are planning on sitting behind the bench today. Hope to see you there.

I get the feeling that most folks still think Cinci is the better team, despite a 2 pts loss in Cinci and a solid win in Moody. They do have more sig wins this year. But . . . it's time to show the world that regular season championship was no fluke. ESPN says 57% chance of victory for Cinci - let's go Stangs!

Cincinnati has an advantage in the 3 games in 3 days department. Plus we haven't looks great the last two games. That said we are the better team so I expect us to win.

I'd be more concerned about Ben Moore and whether his back tightened up. Looked it up-our starters played on average 5 more minutes per game BUT the pace in both SMU games was not very taxing. The ECU game was like a mild practice. I'm not sure our players spent as much as say Cincy did in that UCONN game. Not going to use that as an excuse. SMU also got about 2:30 hours more rest.

good game story from Hartford paper.
I LOVE this Jank quote:
"I really could start [deleted] and whining, I really could," Jankovich said. "I don't blame coaches for doing that at all. You always feel like [your team] deserves better. I certainly think [SMU] deserves a great number. But you know what the truth is? I don't care at all. They're just numbers. It's like the preseason rankings. Just silly numbers."
Let's focus on preparation for the future-not some past transgression

Bottom line is that you have to win tough games against quality opponents no matter what your seed. Survive and advance time and our guys have done a good job of that ever since the loss at Cincy
