I agree with Couch. When I joined, I didn't know anything about the band, other than I did it in High School and enjoyed it and thought I'd give it a try here.
And now I love it. I love it so much, I added on an extra year of classes (Yeah, that's the ticket!)
Seriously, the thing I liked most in HS band was not the stupid drill or anything, it was the friendships I made and playing for the team, about being an entertainer, not neccesarily a great musician.
Get people here by any means possible. Sure, we might get a jerk here or there who does it just for the money, but i bet most people will be sucked into the spirit and energy of the organization, just like I was.
Like Sally said, most of the old guys were on full scholarship. the size comes from our school being small, not from some tradition.
We have the best band in the land, and it should only get better

I was wondering how I would explain all of that, but you guys did it nicely. You see--if some lone sheep steps into an open field, there will always be 12 preditors to fight eachother over the small prey.

People need to know all sides of this. And there are people that think the band doesn't need money.

Sometimes the money from the band isnt important. I got offered larger band scholarships from 3 other schools on i was accepted to but I still came here because I came to a game and liked the attitude of the band better, plus the nice campus, hot women etc. So yes getting some money is nice from the band but also we need the money to get to go places and to be exposed to other fans/perspective students. Not to mention that road trips always make for good times. Now as for less important things in this thread, you do get a hat in the Mustang Band, its called a White Helmet, you just have to bust your [deleted] to get one, but unfortunately now they are actually white, i prefer my old grey one. Secondly spats 'n beanies come tell me a joke later, because you know what happens next. Yes giving to the band is important everyone of you popnyfans on here should be giving some money to the SMU Band Partnership. Because a college football game with out a band is wrong and then you would all [deleted] about we used to have a band, you all say the band is great well, we give a lot to you give a little back to us, im not asking for million dollar donations, but hey give a few bucks that you can, or at least when ya see a band member out somewhere buy them a coke, or better a beer. but all joking aside give to this partnership it is an effort made to head off a downward spiral of out financial decline, please give.

My apologies for the incoherent nature of my last post. I have been highly medicated this week and it causes my mind to operate in a highly opaque fog. Also i was in a rush to get to my next class so I had to cram a multitude of thoughts into one sitting. Let me recap:
1. Give us your money.
2. The band is important give us your money.
3. Without the band the game is not the same, give us your money.
Now as for the other stuff it was just incesant rambling, something Spaz should be quite accustomed to if he were to read his own posts or listen to his loud vocalizations on nothing.
