That's kinda like King George the III's successor trying to take back the US after it had already been signed away in treaty.
The donkey's name is Kiki.

On a side note, anybody need a patent attorney?

If SMU Football doesn't show significant improvement this...

...year, then Copeland and Bennett must go.

Yes, as you can tell by my username, I am a Baylor fan. But I also have a degree from SMU as well and have been a longtime fan of SMU.

Could someone please post a list of Jim Copeland's accomplishments?

1. Ford Stadium?

I don't think he should get all the credit for Ford Stadium since Gerald Ford and the other major donors most likely would have given the money even if you or I were the AD.

2. The Jimmy Tubbs hire?

I like Tubbs but this can't be categorized as an accomplishment until Tubbs gets to the postseason...either NIT or NCAAs. I'm pulling for Tubbs but I don't think his hiring can exactly be categorized as a coup for Copeland. Conversely, I think Copeland gets demerits for waiting too long to get rid of Dement...should've fired him 2 or 3 years before he did, IMO.

Other accomplishments? I'm having trouble coming up with any. Maybe getting academic standards relaxed a little for recruits....but the playing field is still far from level with most other CUSA institutions.

It seems to me that Copeland tends to be reactive rather than proactive. It seems like he should have been working with key alums several years ago to help raise funds to help keep non-revenue programs like men's track and field. Instead, he makes the snap judgement to disband the program then meets after the fact with T&F lettermen...too little too late for them to do anything about it.

Where is he with the fundraising for renovating Moody? This has been an obvious need since the day he took the AD job. Is SMU anywhere close to starting this project?

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong about Copeland but unless football is about to turn the corner, then he's had long enough and needs to go, IMO.

Well you could ask Jim but he is on vacation for 2 months.

Turner needs to wake up and realize he is going to start getting heat if he doesn't do something regarding the AD job.

Sic_em: It would appear that you have enough on your plate down in Waco. Don't spread yourself too thin. Go be a "Baylor fan." Thank you.

if pye gave it to the faculty senate, why doesn't turner (& the board) get it back?

(what giveth can always be taken away)

 nothing like being set up for failure
I think at this point it is entirely subject to the board making the change...I don't think Turner can do anything except make recommendations to the board. I may be totally off base, but that is my guess. Why the board doesn't do anything?...once again I can only guess, but I doubt that a majority of the Board of Trustees even graduated from SMU. It is sort of like a big corporation with big names on the board for show. That is my take anyway from a distance.

BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!

For some strange reason, one of the few universities that REFUSE to use their school colors: Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue.

Sic'em knows more about SMU Athletics than the majority of SMU Alum. Sometimes the truth just doesnt taste good when its given to you by a rival. Baylor athletics has earned the right to have some swagger after this past year. I still hope we drill'em at Ford though.
