I didn't 'adopt' SMU. I grew up with it.

Look, you did not go to SMU, so YOU go to the D-2 board. I care about SMU, but I'm cheering for the 'horns to win it all this year.

Student attendance sucked because:

1) SMU doesn't do crap to get students excited about the games, especially the grad students (40% of enrollment out of 10,000)

2) 2pm kickoff

3)I'm pretty sure it was FALL BREAK for SMU undergrads, so of course they weren't there, they were out of town, at the lake, at home, wherever...just anywhere but school...

You care about SMU football yet, as you have stated before, you don't attend the games...?

Naw, Fall Break was last week.

Look, you can speculate about attendance all you want, but there is one thing that is going to get fans in the stadium...CONSISTANT WINS!

I will continue to go an support the team as much as possible. But if I keep seeing the horrible coaching decisions and half-hearted attempts on the field (worse tackling EVER), I will leave after the band plays halftime. I'd LIKE to stay until Shanty, Varsity, Home, but I also like to not waste full hours of my life.

Well, at least the "fall break" story made a good excuse for my brother and his fiancee in town visiting from Boston - it saved face when we came into the stadium and saw the 429 other fans there...

I didn't want to leave when we left halfway thru 2nd quarter...BUT, State Fair was a lot more fun anyway...

It's one thing when you're obligated to be at the games, and you scream and cheer, but it's really hard to want to be at the game the entire time and scream and cheer the same way, especially if that team is sinking into the quicksand of mediocrity.

I started back in the band for the second game because they lost a drummer. I'm an alum and I really don't have to be there, but I love the school, the band, and even that crap called football. I've regretted my decision numerous times already.

The team has actually showed signs of reversing the sinking feeling of
the quicksand of mediocrity, and the flailing arms are making progress
to climb out of the quicksand.

Beat nationally ranked TCU, and a decent UAB team. Were in position to
win or send the game into OT with 3 other games. We could easily be
5-2 right now.

D*mn :!: Fall break :?: :?: We never got one of those. We were
drowning in papers due, and mid-terms about now.

Hmmm, maybe Copeland should ask Gerald J. Ford if we could have 1
game a year at the Cotton Bowl during the State Fair like the good ol
days. Schedule a big name big draw non-conference opponent that's
on the down slide like A$M.

Any time somebody says we could be 4-1 or 5-2 or whatever, I am going to point out that we could just as easily be 0-7. We beat UAB on a miracle play by one point. We beat TCU; TCU lost its starting tailback during that game; their QB had the worst game of his career; and nobody felt comfortable with even a 10 point lead until the very, very end.

The students should not be allowed on the Boulevard until AFTER the game at which point, they will gain admission by exhibiting a punched ticket. Or go with my earlier proposal because that attendance is really gay!!!

I think he was so embarrassed about the attendance that he made up an imaginery Fall break to tell his out of town friends. Did you ever think you would see the day when you dread getting outnumbered at home by the great UTEP Miners. This is going to get ugly from here on out. Do we break 10,000 from homecoming-I've got real doubts. What is the lowest turnout ever for Homecoming. I predict its going down this year.

A real problem with SMU athletics is getting non-alumni interested.

Thank You MM65 for your support of our program. You are trying to make a difference. Wish we had 10,000 more of you.

I think the point is that we have been competitive in the games we played this year. (Except, of course, the last 2.5 quarters at A&M). That's more than we can say for last year ... back to at least the 2000 season. Granted, we have four games to go, but I see improvement.

I recall the final score of SMU-Tulane was 31-10.

You consider three touchdowns competitive?

Noted. The team's attitude was terrible and they did not play to their potential. Even so, consider that three of tulane's TDs came on short, short fields: 16, 24 and 34 yards.
