He had his mind made up not to redshirt either one last year, and then again this year.
I may be a little confused here, but since neither one of the freshman QBs played a down of football in a game this year...are they not automatically a "redshirt"?
I ask again what is the deal with Duke Hanson and Jason Rowan? These guys were recruited as QBs and whenever I mention we should use a scholarship offer for legacy Chris James I am told we need to use all of our scholarship for only the best. That evidently means these two QBs are top notch yet nobody ever mentions them. I know that Hanson is still with us, how about Rowan and what are their abilities. Has anyone seen them play? we do have QBs on teh team. Obviously what we need are GREAT QBs. I want us to try and pursue Cole Barthel from Arkansas who is transferring but do not know if any attempts have been made to do so, or if he would be willing to consider us.
If you need a stop gap QB, you can also get a 1-AA QB in here who still has a year of eligibility without waiting. Again, he has to contact us. I guess we'll just have to see how this plays out this spring and next August. And BTW some HS greats, just can't make the adjustment to Division 1-A football, it happens and which is better to go with someone who can't hack it at QB or take a chance with a redshirt freshman, or a JUCO transfer. And the QB who tried to come here and chose to stay was from Northwestern, but SMU would only accept something like 50% of his hours so he stayed put.

And anybody who thinks that is anything but nuts is stupid.
the Washington Post reported today that Joe Danna-even though he had a visit scheduled for Michigan this weekend-has committed to Louisiana Tech. Danna is originally from DeMatha near Washington DC
That blows. I gotta believe if that is true that Coach Bennett wasn't trying very hard for this guy or there was no way the kid could deal with the credits he would lose coming here. Ruston vs. Dallas. SMU diploma vs. La. Tech diploma? Our babes vs. their babes. CUSA vs. WAC. This is just a wierd development.

Why is it that I don't think we have heard the last of this guy? Danna has been all over the map (literally). SMU and Wyoming; Ole Miss and Michigan. And now La Tech?
