I was there and 12,000 seems generous. I do have to say the student section was rocking. Wish we could get more of them to come.

I was thinking it was closer to 15k than 13k.

Anyway, in 1965, after going 1 - 9 in 1964, and being smeared 42 - 0 by
Illinois in the game before, the 1-1 Mustangs tied the NUMBER (#) 1
ranked Purdue Boilermakers 14 - 14 in front of ALL of 17,000 fans in the
Cotton Bowl.

Since the Plowboys arrived, SMU has always under performed in
attendance. It's a fact of life. UT, A$M, TT, and most big smelve
schools are in smaller college towns without all the pro sports, and other
entertainment that Dallas has to offer.

After starting 3 - 1 in SWC play, beating Texas 31 - 14 in MM65's favorite
game, the 65 Mustangs lost to top 5 (I think) Arkansas in front of 68,500
in the COTTON BOWL.

Moral: Hey we're averaging 15k so far, let's beat Tulane in their first
game back in their restored dome, and then make some noise by
beating UTEP :!:

Fans take time...look at TCU - they are awesome now, and they still normally don't sell out, correct? And their stadium isn't that big either.

Attendance will continue to suck if the policies make it difficult and a chore to attend the games...my friends had a fun time at their first SMU game saturday, but they felt like they were on "lock-down" w/ all the security...none of them mentioned a desire to come back for another game

I'd love to be enjoying TCU's success in football right now...both on the field and in the stands where I think they have been drawing high 20's to low 30's for most of their games. Their stadium seats quite a few more than Ford (I think about 46,000). I'd be pleased if SMU could draw close to 25,000 for most games and sellout the "big games" , assuming we can get back to where we play some of those.

Agree - PlanoStang
BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!

For some strange reason, one of the few universities that REFUSE to use their school colors: Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue.

Who the frig cares, I am just glad we won. I went to the game feeling we might lose. Even I almost left at halftime, most around me (with kids) did. But for me it is that we keep winning and get even better. Every game is a challenge, but who needs, who cares, if few appreciate what these kids do for us every week. I do and I will. So long as we stay above the NCAA minimum, I don't care. So quit counting. Went to the UT game with NTU and hated the environment. Give me the core fans of Gerald Ford anytime with its nice and easy environment. Keep it up you guys, focus and keep winning!

Because of the abysmal media coverage, a lot of folks don't even know that SMU plays football.
