Gee, that's encouraging.

This is painful, so I wasn't entirely paying attention, but you know it can't be good when the commentators focus turns to some fool in the crowd simply because he's wearing a UNC hat. Hope we can at least score 50.

While Memphis's depth is fantatsic that is not the biggest reason we are getting our butt's handed to us. We do not have the athletes to match up with Memphis. Doherty is forced to play zone and get torched from the perimiter because we don't have the players to match up man to man.
Also, why is it our players always try to go away from our post offense? Every single time we have gotten the ball to Ike, Rack, and Bamba in the post we have either gotten fouled, passed to an open cutter, or gotten a one on one look at the hoop.
Mack update. 6-6 for 17 points.

yeah I know I was shocked. What happened to the team that was Top 20 in RPI?

Effort was not the problem. Thank goodness it's over, man that was painful to watch.

i guess they're ranked for a reason uh? does any team really stand a chance in that building? with the athletes we had, i was impressed we were only down by 5 or so in the first fifteen minutes. to say u can't say anything positive about the first half is stupid...u can't forget it's memphis

Isn't that the SMU mantra......"in a couple of years"....we've only been hearing that for the better part of the last 20 years..................

Okay, change the statement to give Doherty a couple of years. I just hope we can hang on to him for that long.

That's the handy thing about the national letters-of-intent they signed.

Hey look on the bright side. We did get some national exposure, and they just mentioned our football program on SportsCenter. Ok, the quote was, "SMU used to be a football school a long long long long time ago."
But, still. Any press is good press right? No? Yeah, that was embarassing.

Disppointing, yes. Embarrassing? Sort of, but not really. Memphis has a different caliber of athlete .... so far. Coach Doherty already has made an impact on the recruiting front, the results of which will be evident starting next fall. So we took one on the chin -- everyone who follows the game knew this would be a tough game, just like many felt this would be a rough season. Time to bounce back. Go Mustangs!
