Except that we really haven't. Twenty years after the death penalty and we have one winning season, at 6-5 mind you, to show for it. Death still has the upper hand.
So are these the twilight years of SMU football? Or is this limbo? I'm confused.
This definitely sounds like a fundraising campaign and not a "get your butts to the stadium" kind of campaign.
Just another case of people just being cute/creative without really understanding the product, its history or the target audience. Unfortunately this slogan is really neither cute or particularly creative. I suspect if you locked a gaggle of SMU advertising coeds in a room with some adult beverages, this would emerge within the first 15 minutes of brainstorming. I'm sure that would be far less than the Richards Group retainer.
Mustang Mania should be the barometer of all future campaigns. That was an excellent slogan and marketing effort.
Now, now, jt. I still support SMU. I'm just not a sunshiner anymore.
Yeah I hear you, and I understand changes of heart, but I still recall in your manifesto you saying things like you didn't care anymore, weren't going to spend time or money supporting SMU, and the like. Am I imagining all that? Do we need to dig up that manifesto post?

Haha, you guys are ridiculous. The very first post by 65 says it "appears", he doesn't know. I bet our history is in at least one of the tv and radio spots. Just wait a couple of weeks and stop crying. Besides, anything would be better than what we had last year....which was nothing.
Isn't "ponying up" what got Sherwood Blount and Bill Clements in trouble. If the Richards Group is advocating cheating and paying players again..............well .........I LOVE IT.
Somebody "Pony UP" and get Ron Meyer on the phone and get some 4 star recruits to drive maroon trans-am's from College Station to University Park..PONY UP!
Sherwood Blount and Sherwood,Arkansas-Is there a connection?

65 is a SHSU graduate who hangs around the SMU campus on a daily basis so that says quite a bit
I agree that we don't know if this is the final version of our fall campaign.
However, if "Pony Up" turns out to be the actual campaign, that confirms my belief that Richard Sweet was just mailing it in while he was waiting for the opportunity to run back to SWA.
"It'd be nice to see Jesse Henderson break one here."

Nope. No need to dig it up. I've got it archived. I'm still a 'fan'. I'm just more realistic about it than I was in previous years. You showed me the light, jt. Take a bow.
