Yes, he did. The jury is still out but right now just about anything will be helpful.SApony wrote:Did Serge get any playing time? If so, is he going to be able to help our D-line?

Don't take my comment as [deleted], just a different grading system. Like I said, they did play good in the 4th. Besides, the difference between an F and a D- isn't much.
Is the difference between a win and a loss....

However, I heard they are already engraving Casey Fitzgerald's name on the Heisman Trophy. At least we made him look like a Heisman winner. Note: he had 5 total catches in his career previous to this game.
Again, the coaching staff can't seem to make adjustments. When a guy has 330 yards receiving, you might think that a some point in the previous 299 yards you might want to double team him, or try something to stop him.
Just me .02.
Notg exactly. Casey had five catches PRIOR to this season. He caught 7 for 126 yards and a TD vs the Sooners last week. With the 18 vs SMU, he has 25 receptions in 2 games for '07. Ranks #1 in receiving yards per game and #3 in receptions per game.
That's Dodgeball a la North Texas. Unbelievable numbers between the twenties...and still lose.
He is a fantastic coach who gets more from a group of young men than a coach ought to be able to get. And he uses a system and philosophy that works right now. But at some point, if your system and personnel can not only NOT put a game away after 60 throws, but lose by 14, you gotta ask the question as to what the point is having stats like that.
That said, I hope he runs roughshod over the entire Shunned Belt.
And then considers coming to SMU. He'd wet himself to have a QB like Willis.

On second thought...that's actually funny

Not that Justin Willis is not a great QB, but I hardly think Dodge would be overly excited to have him over any other QB, mainly his son.
Great game guys...congrats on the win and good luck the rest of the season. We had a great time at your stadium and hope the series gets renewed.

What is funny is that you think Dodge would move and his son would honor his UNT commitment.
You guys just crack me up! Where did I say "I thought Dodge would move" much less that I thought he would even consider moving to SMU?? To think that Dodge would leave UNT after one season for.... SMU .... (are you kidding me???) is about the dumbest thing I've ever heard.

I would be shocked if Orsini didn't seriously consider going after Dodge and son if Bennett doesn't get this team to a bowl and gets fired. That combination would offer a cushion to Willis' threat to leave if Bennett gets fired.
I don't get to many games but will say I was disappointed with our inability to get any pressure on the QB. I fully appreciate the fact we lost Rogers, Haywood and Bonds (not to mention Carrington) but I was looking to see more snaps from Justin Smart, spelling the DEs. He has showed some quickness and those DL guys were clearly tired from rushing the QB on virtually every down.

Heh, I'd laugh so hard if TD graham'd UNT.

He has a QB better than Willis coming to NT next year by the name of Riley Dodge. In fact, given a year running our offense, I'd put Giovanni Vizza, our #2 QB, against anything the Ponies have.
Now, on the positive side- congratulations on the win! Despite a lack of defense on both teams, you couldn't ask for a more exciting game.
Ford Stadium looked awesome! SMU has a lot to be proud of. And this was my first visit to the Boulevard. Very good tailgating area and lots of participation by Pony fans. A great college football game with all of the atmosphere you could ask for. I truly hope the series continues. Good luck the rest of the season.
