I laugh when I read that someone's not sold on a coach like Houston Nutt, Coach Fran etc.
1. Our chances of hiring either one of those guys: slim and none.
2. We would be incredibly lucky to have someone of their stature. Even with (in Fran's case) walking out on your team and (in Nutt's case) text messaging your girlfriend before kickoff. Last time I checked O'Leary and Price were doing pretty well. Oh I'm sorry, they wouldn't be good enough for us here at SMU.
If Spurrier or Lombardi (if alive) were available, we would have those who would say, "Well Spurrier was terrible for the Redskins and Lombardi wasn't much of a GM for the Packers.
I would think that Pete Carroll would be up for another challenge. Afterall, after you win a couple on national championships at USC what more do you have to prove?

not a chance in hell he comes to SMU, imo. Run it up the flagpole next time you see him, but I think Jimbo Fisher a few years ago is the last time SMU will have a shot at a big time SEC/BCS coordinator coming to the Hilltop.
Notice I said Big time BCS. By that I don't mean K-State. I think SMU may have become less attractive a job in the 6 years PB has been here.
Great article today about Central Florida's coach, O'Leary, who Orsini brought in to turn that program around. I wonder if he will be Ponksatony Phil's replacement?
