This is sickening how we devour our own.
Willis, injured hand or not, good reads or not, has been besieged by oncoming rushers. I believe he has taken his talent beyond what most should expect.
No true QB coach, horribly predictable play calling, and little time in-the-pocket, what the hell do you expect?
Those who have attended this seasons games have seen he's beaten to the point of exhaustion. TCU UTEP USM, his final moments reminded me of the photo of a beaten bloodied Y A Tittle back in the 60's-- yet, he comes out each game & takes it again.
IMO: this kid ain't the problem; we need a couple more players & coaches with his heart.

I agree and can say the same about most of the Mustangs. It's our team, wearing our colors with our logo on the chest. We can be disappointed, even angry about the results, but this is our team and will be fellow alums.
Go Ponies, flatten the Wave.

He probably makes the most mistakes outside of the oline and what the heck was that int pass into the endzone all about, that was terrible! Mapps continues to have good games and nobodies mentioning him. If they would stop falling behind teams so early by so much maybe we would all get to see him turn into something great.
That is usually the way it works. The person with the most responsibility, and willing to take it, will have the most mistakes.

AMEN to that!
Once we become bowl ineligible and Bennett gets canned during the season, and should he leave before the end of the season, you may see the interim guy throw them in there for a bunch of playing time.
Just a guess.

Willis
Please do not defend JWill. These post are prime examples of ignorance running rampant at a institution of higher learning. The Police has cracked down on drinking so posting on Ponyfans is the next option. I promise you JWill could care less! He has a game to play Saturday. What are you doing?

If that were true, and I don't think it is, then his @ss should be benched until he cares more.

This is not the NFL. In the event of an interim guy (I am not sure their will be one), the coach's are trying to save their jobs and/or get new ones. They are not looking to develop anybody or see whether someone can produce next year.

Willis is not that good. yes his stats are great. But do you really think the coaches are calling for him to run as often as he has this year and last. I'll bet if anyone saw him play in High School is did the same thing there. He doesn't let the play develope before he takes off. Last year he was a luck slippery fellow, and this year the other teams know that all you have to do is apply a little pressure and off he goes. If they lose this game, bennett should be fired and turn it over to Rusty Burns for the rest of the season, I bet that bennett has been overriding some of burns decisions all along. Bennett should stay to the defense and let rusty run the offense. If you just want stats then lets just keep having justin run every play. Hopefully next year they get a coach from somewhere else besides Texas. Only a moron would say that they only recruit in a 300 mile radius. Statements like that your never going to be a real contender nationally. The center of the football universe is not in Texas.

Buzzard, your wrong. I saw Willis play in at least 12 high school games and he was much more of a passer. He'd run when he needed too, but not near as much as he does now. One reason is he had an offensive line that held their blocks for the pass play to develop, BUT also the Denton Ryan offense was a true west coast style offense with short passes and short checkoff. Some of these plays Burns is throwing out there takes too long to develop and Willis isn't getting any time.
And if you watch the games and sit behind the teams bench like I do, you'll notice Bennet hardly ever talks to Burns so I doubt he's overriding any of his play calls! Not to mention that the defense is so messed up, I don't think Bennet could fix it now if he devoted 200% of his time to it.
