lol, no kidding. The longer the search goes on, the more some of these posts make me want to throw myself in front of the DART.

I've voiced my opinion, and now I'll stay mum about it if the Fran thing comes to pass. I hope I'm wrong about him, but I really don't think he's the best we can do. Good gosh I hope this rumor is wrong.
I with you mrydel some people on here think we should be able to pick and choose who we want. If Im Orsini and Nutt says he will take the job then I give it to him, if Fran says he will take it its his, Barnett, Bowden, Shula same thing. Any of these guys is a giant step up from the past.
Exactly. I am not saying I want Fran and no one else. I want someone who can hit the ground running and spur this program into high gear. Someone like Fran could do this in my opinion. There are others too, but I would be delighted with Fran.
With any of these guys we get instant credibility, recruits look our way just cause of the coaches name and more media exposure. Beggars cant be choosers.

lol, I'm just on the "Beggars can't be choosers" bandwagon. I mean, dear lord I'm surprised that some Pollyanna hasn't suggested that Billicheck would love the Challange of bringing the Ponys back to life.

I think we just don't want to admit that Fran might be the best we can do.
I think that is the wrong approach. Don't look at Fran as "unfortunately that is the best we can do", Fran would be a great choice! As would Barnett, Nutt, Willingham, etc.

Is there something personal about Fran you would like to share?
Living in FW, I've heard quite a few stories about the guy, a lot from people not even tied to TCU, and none of them indicate that he's anyone I want to see coaching the Ponies. As I said, I hope I'm wrong. His record is not all he claims it is and he's, to use one of the favorite PF.com colloquialisms, a [deleted].

Did you not see that display after the game Friday? They had just beat their biggest (and only) rival, and those kids and the university had all of 1 hour to relish it, because he needed to be in the spotlight, get the upper hand on BB and be THE story, instead of that team of kids that he "cares so much for."

I'm not saying Fran wouldn't be successful at SMU...I just think he lacks class. I'm glad he did what he did for TCU but I simply have to question his character (and it is not because he left TCU). Plus, I wouldn't be able to pull for SMU anymore (not that you all would care:).

I understand where you're coming from. A friend of mine was an athletic trainer at A&M who worked with the football team. She did not have a very high opinion of Franchione. Said he had some "issues," mostly dealing with ego. Needless to say, she enjoyed her Thanksgiving weekend. With that being said, he'd be a big step up from the previous coach.
No offense but "hurt recruiting????????" I think the famed philosopher Billy Preston said it, "Nothing from nothing leaves nothing......................."
