One of the losses to tech was on a miracle bomb (last year). This year we got worked by tech up in Lubbutt.
Outcoaching Mack Brown is no real feat. Games in the past 12 months were I witnessed Fran get outcoached:
Holiday Bowl-Cal
Fresno State (barely won)
Miami
tech
Kansas
OU
Mizzu
Good teams would take away the zone read option and A&M's offense was sunk.

If Fran comes I really hope he brings a new offensive system...because his at aTm was really really really really really really boring.

IMHO, Steve-O will have to answer a lot of q's about the search if we go with Fran/Coker. Mark me down for Fran right now, but seriously, what was the hold up???

I think the hold-up was that he really wanted Paul Johnson, and when that didn't work out he went to option #2.

Maybe he learned a lesson with the offense they ran against Texas that worked this year. Maybe the firing makes him more humble and gives him the fire he needs to lead the Mustangs.

Not to derail the thread, but I'll take quality of life in B/CS over Dallas any day. I like some parts of Dallas, but not to live there. That is why I call Ft. Worth home now
good for you, but obviously most people dont agree with you

This is a significant development. I think Fran is ready to get back to rolling his sleeves up and doing some coaching. At A&M, it seemed he was overwhelmed by psychotic fans and huge media obligation. It is the perfect fit.

Agreed, but option #2 should have been ready as soon as option #1 died.
I still have faith that Orsini and his big bag of money will come thru. Either way I will be at the games.

I agree, and you know KIM wants to live in UP, so he will be motivated to get the W's and keep her happy...

3 of those 6 are ranked Top 10 in the nation. Not sure how/why A&M fans starting thinking they should compete with Top 10 teams. You didn't mention Fran needing goal line stand and hometown clock to beat Army in College Station. That was the clearest outcoaching I've seen from him because Westpoint does not have A&M's talent.
Somehow Aggie fans expectations got waaay out of line. 1310 Ticket did a 30 minute segment on why do Aggies think they are a Top 20 program? There is really no basis for this and I am still trying to figure it out.

Problem is, we don't know if we are on option 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6.

Anyway, good luck with the coach search.
We've lost the last 6 years to Tech without Fran, so that's one thing we can do without him.
On a different note, I find it hard to wish anything but ill will for Tech so long as you have that scumbag Leach for a coach. But I guess somebody needs to take media attention away from Bobby Knight every now and again.

The army game was in San Antonio. Which is a rather big army town.

I didn't mention Army because it was not in the last 12 months. I can give you a laundry list of games over Fran's tenure where he was outcoached.
Regarding the losses to top 10 teams. The discouraging part of him being outcoached was that we have more talent than 2 of the 3 he lost to (the exception being OU). If you lose you lose, but I am talking about games where he was out game planned.
We should compete with Mizzu and KU, we have more talented players than they have. And when Fran let our coaches coach (texas game this year) we beat a team with more talent.

That is why you have to hope he learned much from the gameplan vs Texas. Some of those other games like Army and even better teams might have been much different with that variety on offense.
