By what reasoning do you come to that conclusion?

I'm wondering the same thing.

Orsini has no interest in the search committee. I don't know anyone first hand on this one, but I talk frequently to people that were on the last one. The search committee met twice. Once at the beginning and once at the end. The meeting was called on less than an hour's notice. Not even everybody on the committee made it on time or at all. They didn't even know who they were meeting to talk with ahead of time. They met with Doherty no more than 15 minutes. They didn't even get to ask more than a couple of questions. One of them asked Orsini, "Who are the other candidates?" Orsini's response was, "There are no other candidates." He then asked them to take a vote on whether to make the already agreed-to offer to Doherty.

He wouldn't have let the search committee mit him if he didn't have an agreement.

Please let that be the case this time. But if the deal is done, why string everyone along? More media exposure?

I am telling you. I have felt very uneasy about this all day until I read that statement. I am all but certain there is a deal.

Well, I know I certainly have wasted my whole weekend on ponyfans...

Looks like I'll be up late tonight too.

I guess it really isn't wasting a weekend since there is nothing more important than SMU football.

He is playing to JJ, not us.

I had to pick them up in a borrowed, used, old, Plymouth Valient at SMU. It worked. The girls thought I was a rich SMU kid and was an retro kind of guy.

So, do you feel special if you're on a committee where SO tells you who's getting the offer and doesn't allow you to meet with the sole finalist more than 15 minutes?

I imagine the committee members get to have a reception with the new coach at some point and other perks but that seems pretty silly.

Sorry. The one I borrowed was older, smaller, beaten to heck, and not nearly as stylish as that.

The committee meeting with him just means he's the guy SMU wants. It doesn't mean the deal is done.

So, the press conference is tomorrow then? I'm betting you're right on this.
