So far Willis has not proved anything other than he can go to class and show up for meetings, something 99% of the other students on campus seem capapble of doing--very few of which have a $250,000 "ride". In my mind's eye, I still see him six months ago, pouting on the sideline , far away from the bench, his back turned away from his teamates try to fight to salvage the last game at Ford Stadium. Just what growth has he demonstrated? Let's see in January a new coaching team comes in and he decides he is too good to join the program, do the workouts and attend team meetings. I am sorry but a leopard doesn't change spots in 100 days. He has a considerable amount of growth he needs to demonstrate to his teamates to become the leader of the team.

I don't blame him for getting pissed an unfortunately letting his emotions get the best of him in games. I would be pissed too if I was doing everything possible but yet I thought maybe the coaching staff wasn't putting us in the correct place to win a game. Although, I do blame him for missing class (even though I was PLENTY guilty of that myself) and for not turning over a new leaf when the new coaches came in.

Again, Willis has needed a leader/mentor himself. He now has that and I believe in return, he will be a better leader/player because of it.

I blame him. Didn't JW demand to have that coaching staff back???
If it don't make money it don't make sense

i'm sure a lot of things change when you are one win from going bowling and then you go 1-11 the next year.
Frankly, I don't know that I would want my qb to be ok with being 1-11. And I am not talking about the bad behavior of not going to class or disobeying June.....that I can't defend, I am just talking about on the field behavior.

Yes. The helmet throwing incident for instance. That fired me up and ought to have fired up everyone on that sideline. We should all be SICK of losing! I like the fire. Guy's a winner.

In my humble opinion, I think Jwill may appear to be the leader of the team and a certain proportion of the team respects him as such but the way he conducts himself off the field and in his personal life is very frequently not that of a responsible person, father or friend. When his teammates hear about his antics and such, I do believe it sheds a negative light on him that detracts from the amount of respect he receives from his teammates. On the team and on the field, he commands enough respect as a QB and because of the circumstances but still...

It'd be cool if you were right and JJ saw more in these guys than a guy who's clearly the best QB we'd had in more than a decade and a former Rival three star, nationally-ranked dual threat QB, and CUSA Freshman of the Year.
