Gonna have to get out the old Top Gun dvd now. Greatest film ever. Well, it and Citizen Kane. And Fletch.

DO NOT TAKE ANY INTRODUCTORY FILM CLASSES.
They are all made ridiculously hard just to weed out the "easy grade" crowd. Granted, advanced film classes are a piece of cake. Even if you see a "Film History I" required line for a "Film History II" class, go talk to the professor, and tell him how much you love Post World War II European Film, or somesuch... I did, but in my case it was actually true, and the class was a blast.
Only requirements were that you showed up engaged in the discussion (even if you were an idiot), wrote a paper and took the final. I learned more in that class than pretty much every other film class I took. ANd I took that first semester of my freshman year.
Other film history II classes I took, but you absolutely couldn't get into without taking film history I.... the cinema of sex and violence, and the horror film.
I agree with you on the film classes. They were among the hardest I took while I was at SMU. I took that Cinema of Sex and Violence class. Interesting but tought lots of analysis and writing. It sucked the joy out of watching movies for me.

I took History of Animated Film from Bill Jones thinking all I was going to have to do was sit and watch cartoons. Boy was I wrong.
There was a PE class called Concepts in Wellness which I found particularly relaxing. All we had to do was keep a daily journal and do "life affirming" things like one day we went to the pool and had to jump off the high dive platform. Whew

Yoga was good. It was really a meditation class that for whatever reason had a ton of basketball players in it. I believe it was taught by one of the diving coaches.

I took Intro to Jazz Dance. Before you knock it, keep in mind it's 90% women. Anyway, Roderick Hampton was in my class, and, as much as it pains me to say it, I am a better dancer than Roderick Hampton.

Speaking of PE, there was always Coach Cudmore's famous Sex Ed lesson. I won't share the details on this family website, but needless to say it got a solid PG-13 to R rating and was pretty funny. I don't think the women in the class appreciated it very much.

I once drained a 22-footer on a feed from Rod Hampton at Dedman. Besides my off-handed behind the back fast break pass that was slammed home by Terry Williams, that's my SMU hoops claim to fame.

He also taught the Synergy frisbee Wellness class at 10:30 PM Tuesday and Thursday. A few of us took that until we realized it got in the way of going to Homebar on Thursday nights.

I don't think Popeye can shoot anything outside 5 feet from the basket but that is still pretty cool. At least you didn't let the ears distract you!

I think he dunked on me once. However, it's not really much of an accomplishment, since I am 5'5".
