There are a few kids out there that I'd love to see Doh all over, just based on AAU events this summer and holiday tourneys I've been to this past month.

Colin Borchert would be a really good pick-up for SMU. He's a little wild, but a highly skilled face up 4 from Arizona. His recruitment is odd. He and his family claim offers from a few schools he doesn't have offers from, so his list is skewed towards high majors.

Also, Tahj Tate is starting to blow up. He's from Wheeler in GA, and just lit Duncanville up at the City of Palms. Made all tourney team. Really good player, tons of range, playing on an elite high school team. Originally committed to Delaware St, but has since reneged b/c he's getting mid and high major looks.
“When I first committed to SMU, I thought it would take a couple of years of building. But with these players coming in, we should make a run. We have a lot of heavy hitters. It could get real ugly for a lot of teams we play.”- Jalen Jones

I just finished reading about both of the kids u mentioned & they both look very good. Sounds like Tate is really coming on strong & that Borchert plays out of control @ times. Could you imaginie how much fun Doh would have yanking him n & out of the lineup for his mistakes.
Seriously, both look like legit prospects. Thanks for the info.

Here's a little more info on Shaw from ESPN. I think its a pretty accurate description of him.

Shaw put up 41 pts in his game yesterday.

new article on Rivals about Shaw. Looks like he's attracting some Big 12 suitors right now, and I don't see us mentioned. Are we even an option for this kid?

The HS Gametime video has a couple of short clips on Shaw plus other area player/team info.
It looks like Shaw is going to benefit from not signing early & I think we are probably out of the picture. I will do some more checking into his situation.

If it makes you guys feel any better our only 2009 recruit has scored exactly 4 points in each of his last 5 games against High School competition. Jeez. This guy is going to be "instant offense". It maybe time to move away from these Sengalenesse Warriors

In addition to having a scoring problem, it appears he can't rebound either.

Let's hope they just aren't keeping the rebounding stats because its showing 0 for several of the games.
These just aren't stats for a D1 recruit. I guess he will be sitting down there @ end of the bench next to our other highly recruited center ,Tomas Kantplayalicksy, for the next couple of years.

Why am I getting this sick feeling that this guy does not even meet the definition of "project"?

let's not all get so down on this guy; from what I saw, he will be a good replacement for Bamba. Hard to say what he might be 4 years from now. Just have to acknowledge he's not going to be an impact guy coming in.

CP,

Problem is we have a 20-year track record on players like this which allows us to get down on him.

What exactly does a ‘good replacement’ for Bamba mean???? We have stunk during Bamba’s time here, in no small part due to his inability to create offense. I was hoping that Bamba would develop under Doh much like Ofoegbu did…clearly that did not happen.

Bottom line is we need much more than status quo around here and I doubt Francis is the type of player that gets us to Top 25.

And Pocono, your comment about TK is funny, but for the record, he did have offers from Virginia, UNLV and Baylor if I recall.

I still have that sick feeling questioning whether or not he can even be labled as a project. I am also wondering whether or not the recruiting cupboard is bare and this signing was an act of desperation/last resort.
