Why, what were their reasons?

If we're shut out of Denton schools, we might as well hang it up.

I understand the theory (or fact) about coaches not being receptive to Jones in the Denton area, but in order for that to happen, they have to be telling their players "If you are not good enough you could be cut" or "If you break the rules you might be suspended". I would like to think the coaches of the good athletes are assuring them of their abilities and the athletes themselves have enough confidence to believe they will succeed. If they are not at that level, WDNWTA.

I would think "They have only won 2 games in 2 years" is a much better negative selling point.

I can hear it now

"You dont want to go to SMU!! They got a new coach that ran a different system than the old one, and the QB did not fit into it so he was moved to WR and got some playing time and may start at that position this year!! And he was suspended for not keeping up with grades! And now because they benched him and played a true freshman who had a better chance of succeeding in the long run in that offense, they are probably going to be better off this year!"

if we're shut out of both Denton and Tyler, we won't be able to recruit from 300,000 of the 24 million people in Texas

well it was just Owens @ REL that we pi$$ed off. So we'll just have to focus on the kids from John Tyler and Chapel Hill.

Sometimes, it's unbelievable how tunneled the thinking is in recruiting.
Do you realize what you're saying here? We've had 2 consecutive 1 win seasons and last year our starting QB threw as many INTs as TDs.....so we are going to only offer one QB and if he doesn't commit we will sit tight until next year??? My god, man. Get real. There isn't a position on this team that we couldn't use a serious upgrade in, much less QB.....to suggest that there is only one who we will or should offer is absolutely insane.
pretty sure it was a joke buddy. loosen up

In the end, if he fails in the NFL, he will have a quality 3rd Tier college degree to fall back upon...what do they call Tech (including Tech students)? The 13th grade.

There may have been a cost to removing those guys - but there was a bigger cost to keeping them.
