Basketball scholarships are renewable every year. The Coach can choose not to renew it. Perhaps this guy was given it on the basis that we need some size, he at least knows what a basketball looks like and has even held one in his hands, and there was no one better out there at this point and that if he doesn't work out, he's gone next year along with his coach. I agree with the comments, underwealmed. But hopefully, he'll surprise all of us. Anyone got any Kool Aide?

This class is just bizarre. For some reason(and I have nothing to base this off), I have a feeling Rodney Clinkscales is going to be a player. Same year as McCoy, could be a decent 3 years in the back court. Who knows, though

Francis was a weird signing from Day 1, and who knows w/this new guy. We have nothing proven in the front court, nothing close. It's great to say let's run'n'gun, but Doh's teams haven't shown the ability to run the break, or the famed Carolina secondary break. We don't spot up in transition and we aren't a great pressing team. If we put our best 5 on the court, we have to run.

Instead, we'll put two stiffs out there for 'match-up' reasons, have tempo dictated to us, and play 3 on 5. Awesome!

no one is bashing this kid personally, or even as a basketball player really. He may be sleeper or a good D-1 project. The problem is SMU and what we need right now. Need an impact player in the frontcourt for next year.

Look at the sunshine side. If Doherty can turn it around we will know that we have both a good coach and a good recruiter.

Dallas Heroes 17s went to the finals of this very prestigious national AAU tourney held in Little Rock. The team was missing Nick Hinton & the Jeffcoat kid. Anyway, check out this write-up on a local kid.

Mike Groselle, PF (6-7) Dallas Heroes 2009, Plano, Texas./Plano West Groselle does not have outstanding leaping ability or explosive athleticism, but he more than compensates with his effort and physical style of play. He has to continue to improve his counter moves in the paint to negate his lack of leaping ability, but he does a great job of turning over his left shoulder on the right block for scoring chances. Groselle does not shy away from contact, in fact, he goes through defenders when the try to guard him. He also does a good job of using his body to create space in the paint. Groselle will finish with his right or left hand in the paint and can come over to block a shot. He has to continue to hold his position for rebounding. Groselle can change ends and should not have a problem keeping up in the transition game. He has good hands and can handle passes in the paint. He also does a good job of carving out space for position in the post and needs to do that for rebounding on both ends of the floor.

Ok Pony Doh. U bashed Edwards from Highland Park. Before today, I would have said Groselle was not the type of player we are looking for but I'm not sure what we are looking for. Edwards & Groselle are the same type of players imo. On a side note, Groselle has a 6'11 little brother that will be a jr @ Plano West next season & he is a legit prospect.
Also, take a look @ the picture earlier on this topic re: our new recruit posting up (Stallion posted it on the 1st page). TERRIBLE positioning. I don't know which is worse. His technique posting up or the dude passing the ball. Check out how he's passing the ball.

This kid has been practicing against Jeffcoat everyday for several years so you know he's tough. Let's just do a package deal. Sign big brother on Monday if Marcius goes to Purdue & in 2 years our new coach can sign little brother.He reminds me of Chris Reay a few years ago except not a scorer like Chris was. Smart player, range on his j would be a concern. 15 & 7 per game against some pretty tough comp. Biggest negative is he's local.

He reminds me of Chris Reay a few years ago except not a scorer like Chris was. Good basketball IQ just not as athletic as many would like.

What happened w/Reay?

According to Kate, she said he signed according to the San Diego JUCO's web site.

I just checked the school web site and we haven't released it yet. Could be a formality of getting the documents processed.

Keep your fingers crossed that he will contribute something. I'm not doing cartwheels.
