Why is everyone so hot on McDermott? Did I miss something?
Agree. He was a backup at New Mexico State.White Helmet wrote:Why is everyone so hot on McDermott? Did I miss something?
I think that given the general discontent that some feel with BLM, McDermott becomes an attractive alternative because he has some experience at this level. Personally I think he'll be a decent backup but I don't see him beating out the pack.SoCal_Pony wrote:Agree. The story is that June Jones wanted, in this order: Scotty Young Texas Tech, Rivals ****), Jesse Scroggins (USC, Rivals ****), then Kaiser & then Piland from Southlake and never deviated from that plan much. I heard the staff didn't deviate from this plan at all, not offering any others than the first three, in that order. It's going to have to be another "trust in June" and wait and see opportunity - you'd think he'd bring in a host of talented qb's. I trust JJ a lot here but like Don Canyon, it's a little strange and we'll have to wait a few years to see how it unfolds.NickSMU17 wrote:Did some research...rivals data...
18 3 star or above Pro Style QB recruits within 500 miles of 75205.
Kaiser is not within 500...however SMU commit Don canyon is on the list...
That leaves 17...
Only 2 are not committed...Taylor Barnhill and Tyler Arndt ( don't think he is interested in us)...
The rest have all committed to BCS schools, 1 to Houston.
So I think JJ did the best he could...
I'd agree with that, just meant to use his recruitment as an example of how non-traditional this staff has been in talent.White Helmet wrote:Pretty sure Canyon wont play QB here, maybe DE
If that's directed at me, I don't believe everything I hear which is why I clearly stated that it's just the story I heard. I will say however, that I heard the story while the staff was still trying to get Scotty Young to commit to us instead of TechStallion wrote:If you believe every thing you hear at Cheerleading Camp then you are pretty naive-Please no more "Phil Bennett doesn't bother to recruit any of the Texas Top 150" Theories
Now that sounds more like it.Stallion wrote:Stephen Kaiser had by far his most productive performance of the year with 13 completions on 19 attempts for 308 yards 3 TDs 1 Int. in a 59-21 victory. One TD pass was for 40 yards not sure about other two TD passes. Ran for 2 TDS of 6 and 1 yards. Several comments about Kaiser in link.
