You take non-qualifiers and convicts on your football team, I'd expect you to have a superior team...once again, congrats....I don't think it will be that long until we are better than you on both ends...[/quote]

Exactly right. This post relates to football in terms of they admit and recruit kids who could not get into SMU, Rice, etc. Athletically they will be superior by who they can recruit and admit. But I bet if you did a study of which school's players eventually graduated and/or became productive members of society and which ones did not I bet we are winning that battle.

You all are a private university with tuition fees exceeding 30K a year, and a student to faculty ratio of probably less than 15:1. I'd expect you to have superior academics. Once again, congrats!

Come on now, I think we both can agree that UT recruits all the convicts. When have you ever heard of a UH football player doing anything bad off the field? And do you really want to bring up non-qualifiers/breaking of NCAA rules?

Guys, I'm gonna end this debate right now. I cant speak for UH, I lived in Texas most of my life and I have only been to the city of Houston like two times in my lifetime :D

Yeah, I know I'm lucky

All I know is, if it ever comes down to a uniform contest Houston win hands down.

I love solid color uniforms.

Most high school teams love solid colored uniforms too, hence, cougar high.

1. At least our dance team doesn't look like street walkers.
2. We don't have lard a$$e$ in long dusters running out of gas as they running down the field with their flags.
3. We don't have our band play some ridiculous train noise on kickoffs -- embarrassing.
4. Cougar High is sitting in that dump known as Houston.
5. And when we leave Houston, we know you still have to live there (with all apologies to our SMU greater Houston alums -- but at least you had your sentence commuted for 4 years when you were here.)
GSP, you gripe about people attacking you but then you go and post crap like this. What's all this elitism about? By the way, elitism is another thing you whine about. At least be consistent with your rants/views/b.s. Grow up

What do you say to a Cougar in a coat and tie? "Will the defendant please rise."
UH is not full of thugs and criminals. There are just enough of them to add some spice to the dull and otherwise boring everyday existence that is life at UH. And I have to agree UT and A&M have much longer criminal resumes than UH players. They also have higher SAT scores.

When I was in highschool I actually got a scholarship offer from Houston. Houston was one of three other schools that offered my a scholarship that year. The most vivid experience I remeber about Houston was when the coach who was recuiting me came to my school to watch my practice. I remeber being so excited that this coach from an out of state school is watching me practice. I felt so proud.
In New York football is not as big as it is down here. So when a D1 college comes to look at you thats is a life altering experince for a young kid. Especially a team in Texas, a far off land you only here about in the movies and books. They only thing I knew about Texas at the time was that the rapper Scarface was from there and the Dallas Cowboys play there. As a kid I just wanted a D1 scholorship, and a D1 scholorship out of state was huge back then. My other offers were Syracuse and Bufflo.
Well anyway, When we were done practicing the coach (I forgot his name) walked up to me a started to brag about another linebacker at another school who accepted their little offer. He would tell how fast he was and how big he was and well he knew how to read the offense. After he finished bragging about the other kid he basically told me to take a hike.
So yeah I have strong feelings for Houston. I probably would have accepted their offer if they didn't pull it. I ended up going to Syracuse. I know its the business of collge football and all, but what coach did to me he could have done on the phone. Trust me it was a long bus ride home. I have to this day everythime I think of anything Houston I think of that coach who flew all the way from Texas to New York and tell me to take a hike and offer a scholorship to one of our running backs who was a good friend of mine and ended up going to Syracuse with me.

jason, that was a great use of resources by the UH staff. It's a bad practice to do that and doesn't seem to pay off in the long run, especially when recruiting mostly Texas kids.

When did you play at 'Cuse? How did you like playing in the Dome vs. outdoor stadiums? Is 'Cuse getting their act together with the new coach?

Wow Mr. Blanket Racist. Nice to see you have made an appearance on our board. SMU doesn't care if you're black, white, green, blue, or purple. We admit kids with the credentials to get into a top notch university. Meanwhile Houston admits kids who didn't get into Stephen F. Austin. That is the fundamental difference chieftan.

Houston has a less stringent admission policy than SMU which explains why Houston has a better football team than SMU. SMU has superior facilities and academics but SMU has not admitted the type of player Houston has on its roster. I believe SMU is loosening its requirements so I expect SMU to be more competitive in the near future with Houston and in the conference in general. I doubt Sumlin stays at Houston long with the success he is having. I do not believe Houston has the money to match if a BCS school comes in and offers him a job. If SMU takes care of the ball tomorrow then I expect a competitive game but I think Houston wins this one.

It wasn't a UH fan that used the word Coogroe on this board earlier this week.
