I love that this guy is interacting and is interested in SMU, but if it is you Ryland ( and don't doubt it may be you) we believe that you are the real deal and please send any tapes etc to our great, great coaching staff that will make any interested high end HS Defensive player an NFL caliper player in no time....we need big guys on our D line.

I asked Armen at Rivals to get the tape., He usually does a great job in following up on requests

Armen needs to make sure the coaches know about this.

Armen is going to contact him-this is one of the cool things about the guys at SMU recruiting services-they will find out the info we are interested in. Support them.

Since Ryland first showed an interest in SMU, I have thought that he would be a great fit for the program. From what I read earlier this year (confirming Stallion's post), Coach Hill suggested that Ryland drop the weight to improve his performance. Also, June likes to have his players come in at lower weights so that their bodies can be more easily shaped by the weight room staff. Ryland seems to have a lot of potential and I personally hope that we offer soon and he seriously considers us and forgets some of the NONSENSE previously posted on this board. (In their defense Ryland, I will say that fans are fans and some of the comments made earlier are no different than would be posted on other team's boards so I wouldn't take it too seriously. As a matter of fact I would be willing to bet that some of their ears are burning after you have made your comments and refuted some of their uniformed speculation about your current physical condition!) You will have a great four years at SMU and I hope that we extend an offer soon to give you the opportunity!

For those not on the "other sites", they are well worth the 10 bucks or so a month. the more we support them, the better they get.

Widener, never feel that you need defend your wt or ht to a bunch of "SO CALLED FANS", let your play on the field speak to the COACHES and for itself. You could fit the perfect example of any position and if THEY do not LIKE you, THEY will find fault or will not give you the recognition your hard work deserves. It is what the COACHES see, not those sitting in the stands. Continue to work hard and Good Luck.

And I understand he has a really good relation with Coach Hill who gave him good advice on how to restructure his body. If we want him I believe we would have a really good chance at him. Just depends on if we want to offer him.

The only place any recruit needs to or should send his tape to is one of the coaches. They know what to do with it and they are the only ones that should be viewing it unless it has been put on a public site such as youtube.

Who said they didn't like him? Saying that someone should follow the coach's advice isn't criticism. Why are you so offended?

He sounds like a nice-sized prospect and I hope our coaches give him appropriate consideration. I'd love to see his play on the line after an offseason with Vic!

Ryland,

SMU has been winning with players that were overlooked by recruiting sites and other schools, taking their abilities and working hard to improve, yet carrying that small "chip on their shoulder" that helps them succeed in games. Talent and character, like cream rises to the top.

Good luck,

Anyone have any updates about this guy. Seems like he would fill a big need for us.
