Looks like about 200k with taxes(estimated). catering, etc. The plane seats 194, not 150. Thats ~ $1050 per person. figure double up on rooms and thats $30k for two nights for 95 rooms at 150/night. OK so go the 23rd, come back xmas day. I see it being about 230k for 190 people before meals.Figure dinner, lunch, dinner, bfast at $25 each is 20k. Still, thats half of their #

I've got a feeling that the $500,000 amount includes the anticipated costs of the tickets we are going to have to eat to pay off our 10,000 ticket alottment. SMU might not be willing to fork out money for the Band etc if it faces a large deficit on ticket sales. They probably don't want to start a competing drive for Band etc until they are the hook for those tickets. So they just threw those numbers into one big amount that they need donated.

the tickets are $40.00 each...so, if we sell ZERO tickets, that's 40k. So, still less than 500k. Way less.

Did you mean $400K? ($40 x 10,000 = $400,000)

On the upside, I guess that means if the 500k includes travel plus tickets, maybe SMU is getting a deal on its travel after all.

A few years ago when New Mexico made its first bowl in awhile-the Las Vegas Bowl-they sold I think 5,000 tickets, and their commitment was for 15,000...the other 10,000 were covered by the Maloof family

10,000 x 40= $400,000. How many do you think we'd sell to our actual fans attending. I'd say maybe 2-3,000 although I'm not really sure of that estimate. Estimate 5,000 a high estimate. That still leaves $200,000.

You're right...see my mea culpa above. I'd be surprised if we were anywhere near 5,000.

However, if UH doesn't beat Wisconsin, I think JJ should fire out a post card to the Na Koa mailing list and give them a deal on tickets.

SMU fans need to buy game tickets through the school, even if you aren't going. Just donate them after purchase. We're going to travel extremely poorly, so we need to do something to eat those tix, before the next bowl that considers us, finds out we had like 500 total at the game after 25 years

Orsini on Channel 8 with Hansen tonight said they were going to get donors to buy up to 10,000 tickets and give them away to US service people and charity groups in Hawaii and give them SMU t-shirts to cheer us on....whatever works...those of us there will be loud and proud, to not coin a phrase....hope we can have some SMU sounds though...

I believe the Band will also require tickets, I don't think they just get to walk in for free.

Equipment is expensive to get over there. I remember each tuba on the flight to Florida costing somewhere on the order of $80. So, imagine 5 oversize bass drum cases, 5 (+?) oversize snare cases, 2 (+?) tenor drum cases (quads/quints, oversize), etc..etc... The marching setup will take more equipment than the bball setup did (mainly because of drums). I would imagine that cost another grand or two.

Another thing to consider is the per diem given by the University to all the students. Prolly $30 a day (maybe more, if they consider the cost of living over there). 3 days, 100 people, that's $9000.

On island transport for the spirit group(s)... the list goes on. I think $500k is a healthy estimate, but I could see it being on that order of magnitude.
