I'd be fine with him doing that.

Who's the successor?

Hawaii thought they had their successor and we know how that has turned out thus far. It goes to show you that success is hard to sustain once the brand goes away.

How many times have these "coaches in waiting" and sons of great coaches fallen flat on their face?

I hope JJ stays as long as he can possibly stand it.

Ive wondered about this too. You look at guys on the staff and think maybe they would want it, but on the other hand, maybe they want to return to the islands.

If June takes this program where he expects to, we shouldnt have a hard time finding a top notch coach.

Exactly. Remember that one of the most important things about the Jones hire is he has emphatically demonstrated that this is not, or at least is no longer, a coaching graveyard. While it will take a solid hire replacing Jones to continue any sustained success, he has proven that it can be done here, and that's worth remembering. Finding his replacement shouldn't be nearly as hard as it was to find him.

He has shown that finally this school wants to win and is willing to put in place the means to do so.

Six years! You have got to be kidding when you try to project where most coaches will be in 2 or 3 years much less 6 years. Two mediocre or losing seasons and there will be pressure for a buyout. Two great seasons and a bcs bowl and SMU will be scrambling to keep him while upping the contract for him and his assistants while promising facility upgrades. That is the nature of the game. That is why I dont think UT really wants to go to a more compettive football conference and have to deal with some 7-4 and 8-3 seasons and face the pressure of a spoiled fan base on Mac and Deloss even if they get more dollars. See Arkansas and their coaching problems since there alignment with the SEC.
